Default Lundgren Variation... (LUl.DGREN)

Just wondering why this card is not considered to be a variation like the "Noodgrass"..

All thoughts are welcome... and if you have an example please post a pic..

Happy 4th of July Everyone.

Jamie

Default Lundgren

Hi, Jamie,

Based on your photo of the Lundgren it appears that the down-stroke and corresponding upstroke on the -N has worn away. As such, I don't see how it would qualify as a variant. I have seen cards in my collecting experience where there is evidence of similar wear to a player's name.

Happy Fourth to you and everyone else!

Cheers, Mike

Hello Jamie,

Here is my example of the partial "N" (Piedmont 150), plus a Lundgren without the partial "N" (tougher Piedmont 350). Whether it is a variation or not is for others to debate, but since I have one..........I'm calling it a variation along the same lines of the partial "S" in Nodgrass. The "N" stroke has not worn away, it simply is not there. Jamie actually pointed-out the partial "N" Lundgren in a prior thread a few years back and ever since then I've been looking for another. I've found one more (in an eBay auction about a year ago) but past on pulling the snipe trigger.

Cool chris.. thanks for pointing that one for sale out..

So since others do exist (thanks Iggy).. I WOULD consider it a varation... wouldnt others agree?

Still looking for a reasonable explination on whi it would not be a variation....

Thanks
Jamie

Are there any P150s that do not have the partial 'N'?

I've mentioned another possible variation before, but never really pushed it, because I thought it was just exclusive to certain backs...BUT there's two on ebay right now, that show the variation existing even among the same back.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-11-T206-PIE...item53e828934f

http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-1911-T206-O...item2c5d49b048

Both of these Wilson's have the Piedmont 350 back. While showing both variations in the red/orange burst in the background..

By that same thought, is this partial N exclusive to the Piedmont 150's, and is there complete N versions within the Piedmont 150's?
