Great find
I purchesed these two great rarities as well as a Hess Newsboy and 17 Old Judges from an estate dealer who literally pulled these out of the trash. Unbelievable.

Gary and I were chatting yesterday about his good fortune...couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. And those two California League cards are monsters! Gary- could you put up the Newboy and a couple of the nicer OJ's?

Hi Gary
Hi Gary
I was speaking with Barry on the phone (just now) and he told me of your great find. WOW...congratulations. I love it when good guys get good finds and deals. Those are some fantastic cards and one of the types I never did get to acquire when I was still doing 19th Century collecting. best regards

Unbelievable!
Gary:
It's every 19th century collector's dream (well, mine anyway) that they'll stumble across a cache of undiscovered material. Hearty congratulations! Now you need to put a video on You Tube and fill us in on all the dumpster diving details! Kevin |

I had had prior dealings with the people emptying the house. An elderly woman in her 90s had lived there until recently passing. I simply was contacted to look at the cards and bought them on the spot. I'm located in western NY about 40 miles south of Rochester. Since the Hess cards were produced in Rochester, I guess I was geographically in the right place at the right time. Strange subplot: I have recently given up my land line and have only a cell phone. It took about 2 weeks for the estate people to contact me through a third party. I could have missed out altogether.

Is the McGinty a new N338-1 ? How many N338-1s have been catalogued to date, 18 ? Congratulations and thanks for sharing. I've always like the Nicol & Reilly OJ pose. Don't hold back, share the other dozen OJs.

Joe--The two player card is not a new card. I owned the same card about ten years ago (got it from Rob Lifson).
