Default Signed T206 Marquard (Sterling Sports Auctions)

Okay, can someone PLEASE tell me what the heck happened here? If I am correct, this is the first time in history that a signed Marquard has ever sold for over $1,000 -- let alone $1,200 -- without a Hindu reverse. Of course, it is nice to see signed T206 cards get this kind of respect in the market... but it also makes my plans to hoard them a little more tenuous! I dropped out of this one when the bidding hit $750. With buyer's premium, this beauty went for $1,266.15!!

Once people realized the rarity of a signed T206, this was bound to happen. Just ask Johnny V.- now there is way more competition for the miscuts/freaks/scrap/error T206's because people are learning of how unique and rare they really are........same as a signed T206.

I guess you can consider yourself lucky that you were focusing on them before most others , you have a beautiful collection.

Sincerely, Clayton

Thanks for the thoughts and the nice words, Clayton. I really love to share my collection online at Net54 and on my website. On the upside, it helps me find signed T206s that I might want to acquire. On the downside, collectors learn more about this little niche of collecting and demand goes up.

While as a potential future seller I would like to think signed T206 Marquards are worth over $1,000, as a current prospective buyer I am going to keep my fingers crossed that this was an aberration!

You're welcome- and thank you for making your collection available for collectors to view; that's what makes this hobby fun. I don't have a website, but I do keep my collection available for viewing to board members under my profile in the "album" section (this is a great feature of Net54 !!). My collection isn't all that, just a work in progress that will likely go on for 20+ years .

Sincerely, Clayton

Yea I was shocked at how much this went for. This went for almost 7x as much as what I paid for my signed Marquard, granted it isn't as nice.

The one that sold last night is pretty darn ugly.

Hey Brent,

There is a thread on the Memorabilia side on ACE finally landing on ebay's banned list. Any thoughts?

You are still a contractor for Justin, right?

Certainly don't mean to derail this thread. Rather, just an invitation if you have not seen the tread.
