RIP HOF Tom Seaver
I'm sad to report that HOF'er Tom Seaver's family announced that he passed away on Monday, August 31st at age 75.
He won 311 games, helped lead the 1969 Miracle Mets to a World Series Championship and hurled a no-hitter against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 16th, 1978. Baseball historians commonly believe that Tom Seaver ranks in the Top 10 ML starting pitchers of all-time. When he was inducted into the HOF in 1992, his 1st ballot vote percentage was one of the highest ever (98.8%). On a personal note, Seaver was one of my favorite pitchers to watch on the mound. A consummate professional, whose mental approach and preparation were legendary and he never settled... He will be dearly missed by baseball fans everywhere. There are several players in the HOF who one can question whether they are indeed hall worthy. Tom Seaver was a no doubter. By anyone standards, Tom Teriffic deserves to be mentioned with the greatest who ever played the game.
