I’d love to hear your opinions.

I don't collect those, so take this with a grain of salt:

The SGC version looks better to me. The tape (or whatever it is) on the PSA version is quite distracting.

I am usually not a fan of As, but when I buy a card I like to look at it, so in this case I would get the SGA Authentic.

I'm not a Colgan guy but would choose the A. I'm an image collector and Wagners Horner image is tops, but out of my range.
My favorites would be the Max Stein, E94, PC796 solo and w/Cobb, and Pinkerton in that order.

I’d go with the 1, given I prefer numerical grades over Authentic, and this proof only has 4 total graded, with PSA 1 ranked 3rd.

The SGC Authentic all day every day because it has much greater eye appeal to me.

Thank you, everyone for the responses thus far. The SGC Authentic received the A grade because SGC believes that the right side is trimmed. It definitely has an odd cut to it but being that these card’s history is virtually unknown, it’s hard to say that it wasn’t just hand cut or meant to be that way. That SGC card is mine.

The PSA 1 just sold at auction for $6,600.

Is this a joke? All you guys that are allergic to Authentic slabs crack me up. One of these two cards is better than the other, and it's not the one in the numeric slab lol

Easy "A".

It presents so much better. The PSA graded sample looks like it had the entire boarder trimmed off which makes you wonder how it was given a numerical grade and then it would be interesting to know (I think I can guess) why the SGC example was assigned the A.

This goes back to TPGs not having a clue about certain card issues. For example, any Zeenut that had the coupon clipped is an A card, yet the TPGs continue to assign numerical grades to them. Uh, the coupon was clipped, cut off - doesn't that indicate an alteration which leads to the A on the flip? That topic has been beatin so badly that it's not beating a dead horse anymore, it's like mutilating the horse after it was beat dead.

And to reiterate - I'd take that A card any day.

C'mon, the tape across the front and stains everywhere give the 1 character.

Couldn’t the 1 be cracked out, tape removed, and resubmitted for another 1 grade?

SGC A is the one I would rather have. The PSA 1 with the tape messes up the image which is key.

The SGC A all day. If I wanted one of these I wouldn't even consider the taped card at just about any price.

SGC because it's better. Eye appeal is better of course, but even apart from that, the alteration of the PSA one is more obvious. The fact that they gave it a numerical grade is sort of beside the point.

I wonder if PSA realizes that the one it graded has been taped.

And maybe be put in a different holder. I just think both the cards look like hell, crooked in the slabs,. The PSA slab really looks bad, but that's their style.

Mine's at least straight. Seriously though, great card and strong price on "the only PSA copy", "Fresh to the hobby" & "newly discovered". I think it's 2K PSA dummy tax, & 1 K for each verbal blow job. It's one of the favorites in my collection. The "A" looks just as good to me! I'd enjoy it and straighten it out in the holder if you can., signed, Anal Eddie. Happy Holidays everyone

I bet the PSA 1 is worth more sadly.

I usually hesitate with A grades, but it definitely presents better and I like the contrast of the slab with the card.

I am more accepting of "Authentic grades" for prewar and would choose the SGC slab without any hesitation.

It's all up to the tape and centering Savants.

SGC one is the better one since the PSA has tape that covers that player's face, hurting the eye appeal of the card.

Obviously the SGC copy.

Anyone who chooses "Tape Face" over a nice clean image is a complete slave to the Grading Companies.

I would not buy a beautiful card in a effed up slab for the kind of money we are shelling out to them. If they can't get it in the right slab, I'll move on.
