Hello,
I’m in the process of moving across the country. I’ve got a collection of probably 200-300 baseball reference books, autobiographies, etc. that I’m having the dilemma of taking them with me versus selling them, donating or something else. It’s at least 14 big boxes of books. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I’ve never quite built the baseball library room in the house that I wanted to. Any suggestions as to what to do with them if I decide I’m not taking them with me? Any interested parties in the metro Detroit area? Thanks, Jim |

Try John King. There is a store in Detroit and a store in Ferndale on Woodward.
You'll probably leave there with MORE books. |

I’ve been there once. Great place! You were speaking in terms of donating my baseball book collection? Thanks

Any of them written for schoolboys ? The local schools' librarians could no doubt accept a few . Maybe ?

I am sure they would take your books gratis, but they buy and sell and you might get a few bucks out of it. They would know if you have anything of value.
Unfortunately, books and magazines don't have much of a resale value in today's market. This is weird as everything else....cards, ticket stubs, photos, autographs, equipment have all done well, to say the least, in recent times. |

When we moved 5-6 years ago I just brought 100s and 100s of books to Goodwill and took the tax deduction. I think it was $1-2 a book. Just wanted to be done with it. But was mostly modern.

So true. I was recently in Detroit for the first time in almost a decade. John King books is wonderful. Their selection of baseball books and ephemera is huge. Highly recommended. Perhaps the greatest remaining book store in the country.
