Decided to sell to sell this piece, and going to keep dropping the price until it sells- now asking $350 shipped. PM me as well if interested. Original thread below, thanks!
Wanted to see if I could get some assistance with the following baseball uniform advertisement I picked up at an antique store the other day. It looks to be 1910 era, has Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson and I believe Johnny Evers on it. The reverse has 7 of the 8 pieces of original Silk used to make the uniforms. The only other thing I can find that’s similar is an eBay listing for a page that is similar but not identical to mine. They’re is page 28 and mine is page 38 from looks what to be a large book, and theirs doesn’t have any of the original fabric on the back and had 9 pieces instead of 8. Can anyone shed some light on this piece? The printing looks to be 1910 era lithograph, and I love how it still has the silk pieces on the back. Last edited by Blitzu; 05-31-2021 at 11:52 AM. |

I think too it would be difficult to display as the back is where the fabrics are at, so it’s not like something you would want to frame. Plus it’s cool getting to touch the silk pieces with the pin strips that were used to make the uniforms. Last edited by Blitzu; 03-22-2021 at 10:04 AM. |

Not THAT unusual, however. There have been many similar pieces in auctions, at shows, on eBay, etc., over the years. I will hold on my estimate of its value, and on the idea that many auctions wouldn't carry it because of condition.

Try to sell it here. There’s no commission on either side of the sale. An Ebay listing could fall through the cracks as Hank suggested. Nobody uses the key search words that it would likely take to pull up this listing... unless you go really vague, with words like “Antique” “Vintage” “Baseball” and “Uniform”.
Not many major auction houses will take it, so why not try here? I have seen these go for about $250 on eBay when all the swatches are present. So I don’t believe the value would warrant anything beyond Mears or perhaps Hunts’ monthly Internet Auction. Best of luck, whichever route you take. |

Ok, so I’ve decided to sell this piece along with opening up a lot of my collection here in the coming week (so a lot of T206, and various other cards).
Thanks! Last edited by Blitzu; 05-31-2021 at 11:52 AM. |

Years ago a Lady had a Cloth sample book with a really nice full color page of Ty Cobb. Also the sample book had a full color page of Matty and another page showing Jim Thorpe. She said she was going to hand down the advertisement sample book to her nephews but curious if it ever showed up for sale?--
