Nothing new to report as arrival to the IX Center and show entry again was smooth. Crowded of course but IMO Thursday was the busiest day with Friday close behind. It's funny I've walked the entire show a couple times each day, yet I still stumble onto things I haven't seen yet. I'm exhausted but still looking for that bargain card I know it's out there.
The folks running the coffee food truck must be really raking in the $$$$$ (well all the food venders are probably doing great). I've been stopping for a coffee break ($7 lattee) each day, and while the line is long, they are pretty quick in preparing orders. IX Center workers are trying to run off the youngsters who are setting up shop on the tables that are provided for people to eat at, but they aren't having much luck. Lots of money and cards (all modern) changing hands not only in the food court, but down in the basement VIP area, and really any corner of the show. I remember back in 1988 when my oldest son brought home some packs of Donruss cards. It's what got me back in the hobby, I remembered how much I loved collecting cards as a kid. My son would check the Beckett and price his cards with little slips of paper in a nine pocket sheet. Maybe he was selling them to neighborhood kids I don't know, but it seems to me this latest generation is basically doing the same thing my son did (of course the amount of money required and the use of phones and YouTube influencers aside). Not as many pick-ups today although I did buy a collection of 17 different 1965 Topps "Push Pull" cards for $120 ($7 each that's pretty good) also added a few 1952 Berk Ross cards including Joe DiMaggio. I'll include a picture of those along with my other purchase now boxed up and ready for travel. One thing I am hesitant to share but I will anyway. This Air B&B is equipped with a "Bidet" toilet which at age 70 is a first for me, and could possibly be a game changing life event lol. After the show we drove out to our buddy and fellow OBC member Sam's house for our annual "OBC SWAP SESSION". Sam is a big Tigers fan, and I'll share a few pictures of his man cave which is incredible. We grilled burgers dogs chicken shrimp and had a heck of a good time until we cut out about 10:30. Today's plan is to make one more run through the show hoping for some close out pricing. Taylor has to drive home to North Carolina, and when he is ready to roll, he will drop me off at the airport for my 4:55 departure CLE ATL JAX. steps walked 13,541 6.21 miles $821 spent ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
