Default 1969 Chevrolet Sports Department OJ Simpson

I picked up one of these over the weekend and cannot find much about it. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Adam,

What kind of info were you looking for?

O.J was contracted to Chevrolet Sports Department for publicity after being the first pick in the 69 draft, it was for 69-70.
He did several appearances (where I think these were distributed) and lot's of print ads you can find with a search at the time.

Sample of many -

He also did this commercial at this time - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBgTvR3xygA

I have not seen proof but I still believe they were handout promos at dealerships and appearances during 69-70. Here is an alternate version that was signed -

I have also read that the White Camaro was given as a gift to OJ for winning the Heisman also when they announced the Chevrolet promotion deal -

I knew about them before; I must've read something a long time ago. I don't recall ever seeing one in the wild and I'd not even thought about it in years until I stumbled across this one. The guy also had a 1969 Jewel Ernie Banks, which I recognized immediately.

The smile on Ernie’s face on that Jewel promo makes me think there was a handful of models in bikinis behind the photographer, lol. Ernie always seemed to smile for the camera but that one is the king of happy Ernies!

I also picked up a 1950s picture pack of Ruben Gomez from that seller and when I went home and opened the sealed magazine bag it was in I found a Stan Musial tucked behind it. Gotta love that.

I wish I could recall where I found that info on the premium. I think it was some sort of rookie card listing that looked for the earliest issues of players as opposed to mainstream rookies. It would be nice to have it signed. Maybe I'll take a stab at it.

Sorry, I had to...
