When I got back into collected, I filled most of the holes in my collection thru Dean's.
I didn't know about N54, and I was a bit too gunshy for eBay. While I probably could have saved $10 a card via other sellers, I liked the selection and the sense that I was buying from a real dealer. Now mind you my aims were raw and generally lesser condition cards in the $15-40 range. So convenience, selection, and trust meant more than price. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk

Dean's is pretty strange, but I have bought some cards from him over the years. Each of his vintage autographed cards I have purchased have been authenticated by PSA, so that's good.
He also has his stock on COMC, so it gives me more options for purchasing with COMC store credit instead of taking a cashout fee. However, his 1952 Topps Mantle nice PSA 2 was $16,600 last week and is now listed for $27,500. I figure that's because he was trying to shop it at the National and didn't want it to sell too cheap.

Post National, Dean's has changed the price of the 1952 Mantle PSA 2 on COMC to $18,400.

Funny you say this. When I'm looking at an item, I use Deans as a price gauge. My top price begins at half of what Deans is charging.

It took the beautiful mind of Sy Berger and the beautiful cards of '52-'55 Topps to somehow win the hearts, minds, and nickels of young boys across America. What is even more amazing is that the '53 Bowman set was made during this time and it is largely considered the most beautiful post war set of all time - yet Bowman still couldn't win (with the star advantage). I think that the '55 TV set is underrated - as Color TV was such a novel concept at the time. It would be like having an Iphone set in 2005 when folks were still figuring it out at the time. Quick, inexpensive read and well worth the time and small investment. My only criticism is the lack of pictures as they describe the cards. I had to pull some out to compare as he was describing in print. It could have been a copyright issue - so no worries - just felt that was the only thing missing.

(Guess they are doing something right?) At the Toronto card and memorabilia Expo, BMW was right at the entrance. All of his 52 Topps cards were graded by KSA, which I found odd as BMW are based in the U.S.? ![]() Like the cards in this link, his prices at the show were over the top as well, but like Dean's, and anyone else, they are free to ask whatever they want. https://www.ebay.com/sch/bmw_cards2/...1&_ipg=&_from=

I actually had a quite good experience with BMW. The asking price on a card I wanted was exorbitant, but I worked out what I feel was a fair deal with them. Like all of their stuff eBay, it was OBO, and I will say they really lived up to the true meaning of the term.

He had a Richie Ashburn, that was severely OC but I was willing to accept it if the price was right. I inquired, of course, and when he said $500 U.S. I knew there was no way in h*ll I was going to get it for the $100 I was willing to spend so I didn't even bother negotiating with him. Some of his better centered, star cards were priced well above that $500 mark, (into the thousands) and although they were nice to look at, they were nowhere near worth those prices. The KSA grading bothered me too. I knew about their rep, plus it struck me odd as to why someone in the states would send their cards north to have them graded, by a suspect company, nonetheless, when PSA, SGC and Beckett all resided state side? ![]() http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1952-Topps-31...0AAOSwImRYNxRa

But he makes me blush at the pricing sometimes. To his credit though he has purchased cards from me and unless i am blowing out accumulated stuff out that I don't want i am expensive on quality and tougher to find cards. The easy stuff is where his prices are really crazy in my honest opinion. But to his credit he has bought cards from me several times, and like I said earlier I am expensive on the types of cards he bought. SO I don't mind it as much as someone who wants to pay 10% raw beckett for your nm+ cards Then try to sell them back to you telling you they are gem mint and not budging.
