Hi,
I picked up the following Flynn OJ image on Tintype. It has been listed on ebay for sometime so I assume that most of you OJ collectors got a look at it and didn't bite. 1. I cant seem to find any information of these images being on tintype. Can someone point me to where I can find more information on this? 2. I paid $125 for it, what I figured to the same as a better condition OJ card. Was this fair price? too much? Thanks- |

There aren't any pictures in this old thread so I can't tell if this is the same thing you have. But here was an earlier discussion on this site many years ago about Old Judge tin types.
http://www.net54baseball.com/archive...p?t-64350.html FWIW, if it's real, I think it's incredible for that price.

I believe it is not period. My opinion, which others may disagree with, is that it has minimal value.

Wow really cool discussions on those threads. Thanks for finding those for me, too bad the photos are not longer available.

That thread was 13 yrs old. It was a long time before we made the transition to new and less antiquated software. There are a number of those tintype repros floating around. Some have varying degrees of authenticity it seems.

The story is that the were made in the early 1900s, not the Old Judge period. Going by what others have gone for over the years, your buy price seems fair enough.
I agree with the previous post that I've never been a fan of these and related 1900s 'proofs.' However, they have regularly sold for a good amount of money, which is why I said the buy price is fair. Last edited by drcy; 04-16-2016 at 11:32 PM. |
