This is a bit off topic but I know some members enjoy seeing things from yesteryear. This periodical is made of quite high quality stock and fairly large, at 8 1/2" x 11". It has 24 pages including fronts and backs....and I picked a page to show some pricing....The Instructions on "how to order" made me smile...

I guess since none of my cards are A1, they would have been destroyed or sent to an orphanage.

Dave, Good question on the mounted sets...they must have gotten some takers on tha promo...it would be super cool to see one of these albums!

Brian, Very intuitive on your part. Are we talking Russian dogs during the recent Winter Olympics or Babe Ruth? (trust me, I am both a canine and Babe lover).

Otherwise, the '51 Topps Red v Blue back pricing has me curious. Reds really have all the Stars, Blues are almost an afterthought. I guess the Blues were just not as common(?)

The sort of "We have the world's largest..." type of promo: Same as then, same as now.

There is no mention of the condition of the cards offered for sale. I guess at a buck apiece for 52 high numbers, you can have a little flexibility.

I also love the old school "Planetarium Station" address. Makes me want to play Bobby Darin's 'Sunday in New York' and grab a Checker Cab down to Toots Shor's.

You and the others are welcome, Jim. Recently I picked up some more boxes stuffed with this kind of stuff. It is nice being able to show a glimpse of what it used to be like in our hobby, before most of us (but not all of us) were in it. Here is a page from the 2nd issue of this magazine, entitled "Price List #2...January 1, 1964". There was a question about the album mentioned and here is the back cover of this issue to help with a full description.

Don't know but the T205s were priced at 50% more than T206s. Some things do change.

and I will add this Beatles Concert Poster found in the same box of stuff. Can you imagine seeing them....and for free!! It is approximately 8 1/2 x 12.

I just spoke to a gentleman who does Beatles Posters like I do type cards . He says there is a 98-99% chance it's not a real poster....Time will tell....and I am out nothing if it isn't. But if it were real I have a feeling it could be somewhat valuable...

Leon- if that poster is real, it's worth a ton. My guess is it's a reprint.

Edited to add it wasn't free. It was two shillings sixpence by 8:00 PM, or three shillings after 8:00. Still pretty cool to have been able to see them so early in their career, at a time when they were known almost only to their local fans.

After Tempest died, he went on to form Faron's Flamingos.

Wow, yours was published about half dozen years before I semi-seriously got into the hobby. The '39 Play Ball prices crack me up. Imagine, a Williams RC for .40? I don't think I paid much more for the sampleback. And Meccas, even now, they are still one of the best deals around. Just my $0.02

I'll take the '52 Topps set for $34.75 please...with inflation that's only about $266, aka about the same price as 6 to 10 '52 commons nowadays

My dad was born in 1922 and collected 1933 and 1934 Goudey's. He never even knew or seen tobacco cards when he was young.
