MEET THE YANKEES V 100) BABE RUTH COMPLETE PERSONAL CHECK The finest example I have ever seen, There are Babe Ruth checks and then there are Babe Ruth checks. Absolutely pristine with no bank cancel stamp or perforations anywhere near the signed portion of the check. Dated December 9th 1941 , Blazing bold Made out entirely in his own hand measures 3 x 8 1/4. Drawn on the Chemical Bank of New York, the words "Babe Ruth" imprinted on the far left of this immaculate check. Check is made out to a "Sol Dickler" for $260.00. And signed "G.H. Ruth" His name speaks for itself and his career accomplishments are too numerous to list here. Suffice it to say you might find a Babe Ruth check for less , but you'll certainly not find a finer check than this one. One of the original five inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame he changed the game of baseball forever, His record setting 60 homeruns in 1927 and lifetime total of 714 were records that stood for decades. A personality that transended sports and represented a generation. He died in 1948. $4,850.00 101) GEORGE STALLINGS COMPLETE PERSONAL CHECK Extremely rare autograph in any form and possible future Hall of Fame member. Made out entirely in his own hand and dated April 30th, 1908. Measures 3x7. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Jim Stinson Sports and JSA stating the fact that this check is one of only three Stallings checks known to exist. Best remembered as manager of the World Champion 1914 "Miracle Braves". He began his career as a player in 1890 for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms and 1897-98 for the Philadelphia Phillies but it was his accomplishments as a manager that cemented his legacy. Managed the Phillies 1897-98, He was the FIRST manager of the Detroit Tigers in 1901, managed the Yankees 1909-10 and eventually the Braves 1913-20. Astonishingly RARE he died in 1929. $1,250.00 102) FRANK "NOODLES" HAHN 3x5 signed with his name and nickname with handwritten note on the reverse, he writes "One for the book ! at age 70 still able and do pitch in batting practice , am in uniform and practice with the Reds every day when they play at home". Comes with an unsigned 8x10 glossy photo of Hahn for display. Holds the unique distinction of having pitched the FIRST no-hit game of the 20th century. Also struck out 16 batters in a single game a record that had not been accomplished since 1880 and stood for many years. A pitcher for the Reds from 1899-1905 and Yankees 1906. His autograph is exceedly scarse despite his date of death in 1960. $1,250.00 103) AL "ROXY" WALTERS Government postcard trimmed to 3x5 in size and originates from the collection of Baseball historian Karl Wingler , Postmarked on the reverse 5/20/48. and signed in pencil with both his actual name and nickname. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 glossy for display. Walters played for the 1915-18 Yankees, 1919-23 Red Sox , 1924-25 Cleveland. He died in 1956. $750.00 104) WILSON "CHICK" FEWSTER Signed portion of a Yankees payroll check measures 3 1/4 x 4 1/2. Comes with an unsigned glossy 8x10 photo for display. Fewster holds the unique distinction of being the FIRST player ever to bat at Yankee Stadium. Played for the 1917-22 Yankees and appeared in the Yankees first World Series in 1921. Also played for 1922-23 Red Sox , 1924-25 Cleveland and 1926-27 Brooklyn teams. Extremely rare ! He died in 1945. $650.00 105) HARRY C. HARPER One of the only known Harper signatures to exist. Signed portion of a vintage album page measures 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 also signed by a very young Waite Hoyt. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 glossy photo for display. Harper pitched in the Yankees first World Series in 1921 and was the starting pitcher in game 6. A pitcher for 1913-19 Washington Senators, 1920 Red Sox , 1921 Yankees & 1923 Brooklyn. He died in 1963. $450.00 106) TOM "PETE" DALEY 1930 YANKEES ROAD ACCOUNT CHECK Made out to Pete Daley by Yankees road secretary MARK ROTH. Dated April 19th, 1930 signed by Roth on the front and endorsed in pencil by Daley on the reverse. Check measures aprox 3x7. Extremely rare autograph ! comes with an unsigned 8x10 photo of Daley for display. Played for the 1908 Reds, 1913-14 Athletics and 1914-1915 Yankees. After his baseball career he assisted as Yankees baggage handler on road trips which is when this check was signed , He died in 1934.$950.00 107) CURTIS "BILL" WALKER Government postcard trimmed to 3x5 in size. Postmarked on the reverse Sept 7th, 1951. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 glossy photo in Yankees uniform for display. Played for the 1919 Yankees, 1920-21 Giants, 1921-24 Phillies, 1924-30 Reds. He died in 1955. $250.00 108) JOE "MOON" HARRIS Government postcard orignates from the Ralph Winnie collection. Postmarked on the reverse 3/3/1952. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 glossy photo for display. An accident while serving in WW I left him permanantly disfigured , He played for the 1914 Yankees , 1917 & 1919 Cleveland before being banned from baseball for life by Landis , later he became the FIRST player to be reinstated after recieving lifetime banishment and returned to play for the 1922-25 Red Sox, 1925-26 Washington Senators, 1927-28 Pirates and 1928 Brooklyn. He died in 1959. $350.00 109) AL DeVORMER 3x5 signed in pencil and originates from the Bob Duvall collection. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 glossy of DeVormer posed with two other Yankees catchers from 1921. Played for the 1918 White Sox, 1921-22 Yankees, 1923 Red Sox & 1927 Giants. A far tougher autograph than his date of death would suggest. He died in 1966. $250.00 110) JOHN GANZEL Vintage portion of an autograph album page signed boldly in fountain pen. Measures 3 x 4 1/2. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 in Yankees uniform for display. A member of the first Highlander team in 1903 later called the Yankees. He is the FIRST Yankee player to ever hit a home run. Played for the 1898 Pirates, 1900 Chicago Orphans (later called the Cubs) , 1901 Giants , 1903-04 Yankees, 1907-08 Reds. He died in 1959. $250.00 111) LEW BROCKETT complete personal check dated May 3rd 1951. Made out entirely in his own hand and signed nicely. Measures 3x6. Very early Yankees pitcher 1907, 1909 & 1911.
