I think he'd say "what is an internet?" and furthermore, "what is this machine that I'm typing on?".

Good question, Eric, and I voted for number one, but I think another good question would be, "If Jefferson Burdrick was a Net54 Member, what would he think about the current state of the hobby?"

Jefferson Burdick and my father actually worked together at Crouse-Hinds in Syracuse in the late thirties. Crouse-Hinds was best known at that time for the production of traffic lights. I never found out before Dad passed, if he knew an odd little fellow at Crouse-Hinds named "Jeff". I did however show him my first T206 and he said he had never seen one before. His year of birth was 1918 and he was never a big baseball fan.

Burdick would very much like how the study of vintage baseball cards has gone beyond anything he accomplished. He would detest the personal fighting and other shenanigans that go on here.

I think he'd say...Great site. Most members truly care about the hobby. But the rampant corruption is of very disconcerting to me?!
Or maybe that's what I'd say!!!! ![]() |

I think that Barry articulated perfectly what Jeff might have thought.

I think he would say something like that too. We all know, from his writings, that he abhorred the money aspect of collecting. However, he was smart too so would probably recognize our board as an equalizer to helping (no, not perfect by any means) keep the hobby clean.

I think this very introverted gentleman would be a lurker.
I think he would smile inwardly each time he hears the moderator speak of the ACC as the seminal source for vintage card collecting. I think that he would frown inwardly when individuals offer ad hominem attacks instead of focusing on the cards. I think he would be proud that his work continues to be so well respected by the community of vintage scholars---names which he has carefully inked on yellowed paper, as he 'listens' to the great wisdom and sometimes superfluous cacophony of Net 54. all the best, barry |

I haven't read all the responses, but I think Mr. Burdick would be having too much fun using his new Macbook Air and googling baseball history stuff to be too concerned with this site. Plus, there is probably some sort of fatigue associated with time travel.
But seriously, while googling 'T206', he would inevitably come across our site, and would probably get his g-g-g-grandson to start posting stuff in the B/S/T
