Default Let's see your signed pre-war cards

With the all the talk these days about signed pre-war cards, I don't believe I've seen a thread simply dedicated to sharing images of them. I searched the archive and didn't come up with anything. So let's see what everybody has in their collections. I'll start it off with a few Diamond Stars ...

Here are a couple of mine.

I would also like to add that Billy Herman doesn't carry the glitz and glimmer of many other Hall of Fame players, but it sure is nice having an autographed rookie card of any pre-war Hall of Famer!

I love all those fountain pen signatures. Penmanship really is a lost art.

I had a few '33 Goudeys but stupidly sold them awhile back. Here's what I have now.

Jay,

Thanks for posting that card. For no reason whatsoever, I've spent all week trying to remember this father/son duo of the same name. I remembered they were from NJ and the son caught for the Philly A's. I had been meaning to look it up in my research notes but never got around to it. Just one of those things that enters your mind without any context and you half remember the story. The pleasures of getting older...

The only autographed card that I went out of my way to add to my collection is the Diamond Stars Wally Berger (I am somewhat of a Wally man). My example looks a lot like the one Chris showed in the original post, which is reshown here.

distarsbergerauto.jpg

The ones I have seen also have his autograph on the dugout handrail. I think Wally appreciated that National Chicle gave him such an obvious 'signature area' to sign. Notice that he even managed to line up the down swoop of the 'g' in his name with the post.

Brian, I never noticed before how Wally signed the bat. That's pretty cool. I've never seen it done that way on a card, although I've seen it done many times on programs with balls and bats.

You have inspired me to scan my Wally...he once again lined up his signature on the handrail.

I prefer vintage autographs whenever possible, but I like this image so much that I settled for a Sharpie signature.

Yes, somewhere along the way, a Wheaties ad was trimmed off the bottom of the piece. I certainly wouldn't have done it!

Luke, gorgeous Gehringer!

I don't recall ever seeing it before. Can you tell by comparison to his other signatures, if it's early like rookie year?

Such a beauty.

And Paul, that Frank Baker t202 is amazing.
