Default SteaknChop aka Butter aka Brendan White = scammer kid banned again

The title pretty much says it all. With all of the new folks coming on board there are bound to be a few rats that come in under the door. I just banned "Butter" who registered about a week ago. I have very good information leading me to believe he is the idiot kid, Brendan White aka SteakNchop, who was previously banned. You can do some searches on the BST if you don't remember his idiocy. Unfortunately his dad (the kid is about 15 yrs old) takes up for him and thinks he can do no wrong. Personally, I think the dad should be put in jail for being such a poor parent, but that's just me.

Please remember to check references when doing deals on the board. It is very important. Also, no one on the BST is allowed to be under 18 yrs old, unless I have spoken with their parents. There are a few there now and they are fine. But the rule is there for good reason (legally binding contracts and stuff). If you were doing any deals with "Butter" on the board, be very, very careful. Also, please let me know of any suspicious activity. Many times it's a rat. Happy collecting and caveat emptor

Default Thanks

Thanks for your vigilance Leon, it is nice to know that there are moderators that follow up on these things and take the time to weed out the bad apples. I do know he is a member on Sports Card Forum and noticed a few posts of his but thankfully never completed a deal w/him. I will be in touch with that forum admin and see if what they do.

Yes, thanks for keeping this place clean. I asked a few questions in your other thread about new members, and was hoping someone could please help me out with this info (thanks in advance)...

If you click on a member's profile, you will find a "statistics" tab. Under that tab is a "general info" box which has a referral count.

How does a Net54 member get referrals, or how does a member leave a referral for another?

Are referrals a good, accurate way to find out if a potential seller is one you can trust (ie. could someone falsely pad their referral count in order to create a false sense of trust)?

I can try to answer some of this. I just did some quick Google searches under Vbulletin and referrer, and there was days of reading. The nearest thing I can gather is that folks say who referred them upon registration and get a referrer point for the person that "registered" them. Here is a blurb on it...hope it helps....I/we didn't do anything, it just happens >

Ah, I see now. No wonder I couldn't find a button to leave a referral for someone. Thanks again.
