I think that Jay hit it right on. It looks like a picture of Cobb taken from either a Spaulding or Reach Guide or some other type of publication and glued onto a non-sport card. The back is the back of an Arm & Hammer Soda card set that is cataloged in the ACC as J16 Beautiful Flowers.

Oh, I know what it is, it just left me speechless that someone could be so dumb as to think that Arm and Hammer would put a baseball player on one of their Flower cards or that someone would be dumb enough to bid on it.

The Ty Cobb card on the left in the eBay auction mentioned at the top of this thread is from an edition of the Sports Card News in 1992. (See link below for similar cards.) The back of the Cobb card in that auction, however, does not match the back of the card from the Sports Card News magazine. The cards from the Sports Card News sell for only $1 or $2.

I was out of town when I made the post above and could not upload a front/back picture of the 1991/1992 Tobacco cards from the Sports Card News. But, here's Lefty's Sports Card News card from 1992. There was never an authentic card of Lefty Grove that looked anything like this card. I assume the same is true of Ty Cobb.

I emailed this seller the day of his listing to let him know his card was a fake. He responded stating that I was attempting to ruin his reputation so that I could get the card at a rock bottom price and flip it for big dollars.

and the good folks here, the occurrences where I found dealers to that were nice, helpful, and trustworthy/honest were few and far apart enough as to leave me speechless!

All I'm saying is that these kind of Ebay postings don't surprise me at all in the collectables marketplace. Haven't surprised me for many many years, and unfortunately, I still assume most are rogues until found to be otherwise...It was crappy folks that drive me away in my teen years and I was lucky to find my way back via this Board.
