1962 Topps Set Complete!
It's done! It isn't graded, and won't win any awards for condition, but it is done, 598 out of 598. Because I already had the stars, the hardest part of the set was the 7th series, the Rookie Parade cards and even the commons in low grade condition can get kind of pricey. I only have 1 green tint, I believe, and that's Al Kaline. I didn't care about variations or condition, as long as they weren't in tatters.
I frankly couldn't have done this so fast (I only started on this set in March) without a lot of help from folks right here at net54, most especially rjackson44, Jason19th, Cmvorvce, CobbSpikedMe, Harliduck, and donmuth. You guys are the greatest!
This is without a doubt my favorite set, and is near and dear to me. I had 500 or so 1962 Topps baseball cards as a kid, given to me by an older friend who was going away to prep school, along with Hardy Boys books (the good ones with dust jackets), Weird Science and Tales From The Crypt and Boris Karloff and Classics Illustrated comic books, and Boy Scouts stuff. When I moved out of the house and left most of my youthful stuff behind, of course Mom finally got rid of it all. So, Professor "Dolph" Belton, PhD, retired, this set is in honor of you, sir. It only took me 50+ years to complete it!
