1962 Topps Set Complete!

It's done! It isn't graded, and won't win any awards for condition, but it is done, 598 out of 598. Because I already had the stars, the hardest part of the set was the 7th series, the Rookie Parade cards and even the commons in low grade condition can get kind of pricey. I only have 1 green tint, I believe, and that's Al Kaline. I didn't care about variations or condition, as long as they weren't in tatters.

I frankly couldn't have done this so fast (I only started on this set in March) without a lot of help from folks right here at net54, most especially rjackson44, Jason19th, Cmvorvce, CobbSpikedMe, Harliduck, and donmuth. You guys are the greatest!

This is without a doubt my favorite set, and is near and dear to me. I had 500 or so 1962 Topps baseball cards as a kid, given to me by an older friend who was going away to prep school, along with Hardy Boys books (the good ones with dust jackets), Weird Science and Tales From The Crypt and Boris Karloff and Classics Illustrated comic books, and Boy Scouts stuff. When I moved out of the house and left most of my youthful stuff behind, of course Mom finally got rid of it all. So, Professor "Dolph" Belton, PhD, retired, this set is in honor of you, sir. It only took me 50+ years to complete it!

A very tough set to complete, well done!

Well, thank you to the 2 who understand completing a major set, even low quality. I hesitate to use the term "low grade" because none of the 598 is graded.

With that, I am going to take a break from this "hobby" for a while.

Always feels good to cross off a set from a want list. The 1962 Topps Set is one of my favorites. Trouble with my wantlist it gets longer as I cross one off, I add 2 or more.

There's nothing better in this hobby than finally adding the final card to complete a set build. Congratulations on a major accomplishment.

Congrats on reaching the end of this road. Hopefully you enjoy your time off!

Congratulations, it’s a classic design and a fun set to build. Enjoy it, and go get those green tints and variations!

Congrats! I’m 3 rookie parade cards short of completing my ex to ex mt set

Set building is a challenge

What set is next?

Congrats James! Those era sets are so hard to complete because they are so big! I've always encountered the same problems you did - I had the stars which are easy to find - chasing the commons for a decent price is a pain in the ass!

Like you, whenever I complete a set I'm thrilled. Good job! Jim

Thanks everyone! I think I am going to take a break for a while, and if I get going on another set it will probably be 1967 Topps. Kind of like 1962, I have a lot of them, somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 +/-, I haven't counted, including most but certainly not all of the desirable cards of that set. We'll see. But for now I am easing up.

That’s it

Time for a real parade, in honor of the 62T complete set.

Now THAT is what I call a pat on the back! What Jolly Elm would call a Macy's parade! I think it's even better. Many thanks, sir! I sure wish we had Big Boy hamburgers down here, probably my all-time favorite!

There is something intrinsically likeable about a collecting story that begins with a kid getting handed a pile of 1962 Topps and some Hardy Boys.

Congratulations on finishing it!
