A question with the way stocks/economy is.
What kind of material do you expected to see in big auction houses the rest of the year? More high end items or maybe some more lower end items? I can see both sides of this. Example: you have a PSA 6 T206 Cobb. If other collectors aren't selling that card, maybe you get more for this item. But do you gamble and then maybe get much lower because people aren't bidding on it. Will be interesting to see what kind of cards/items they have the rest of 2022. Most of the stuff (not all) you'll see the rest of the year has already been consigned.

Scott, I will assume this is true for your auctions, since you made this comment. But, I'd be very surprised to learn this is the case with the major sports auction houses. Unless someone shows me something to cause me to think differently, I have to believe that items consigned between now and the National, as well as item consigned at the National, will appear in auctions before the end of 2022 (unless a consignor requests otherwise). Scott, what specifically do you base your comment on?

I agree with Scott. I have a card that I was thinking of consigning, and it still has to go through the grading process….which means winter or spring of 2023.

Try another auction house then. For our August auction, we give all graded cards a month grace period. The TPGs rely on auction houses and often assign reps to insure our subs are pushed through prior to our deadlines.

I think the better auctions will have the same great stuff they always do. I think realizations on top grade scarce material, not the shiny stuff, will remain strong and maybe set new records. The prices in REAs current smaller auction look just fine to me. The shiny stuff will suffer though I believe.

I recently gave Brian from MH three terrific PSA graded sets. They will be in their catalog auction come Natl time. His deadline was pretty much towards the end of May. Without question, most of the big AHs will take stuff for their larger Fall catalog auctions. Unsure of that exact cutoff date, but it is still not even summer yet.
My sets at MH: #2 1934-36 Diamond Stars (7.63) #4 1955 Topps All-American FB (8.92) #30 1955 Topps baseball (almost 7.50) |

I wonder if the big Auction Houses are still taking Bitcoin as a form of payment ?
I remember last year when they SGC Wagner Sold it was an Option. |

PWCC still has that option and more, might be a good way to unload some BTC, falling knife and all...

I’m surprised any auction house would want to take on that risk ouch. How do they pay the consigner of the item ? In bitcoin ? I want cash for my items not bitcoin.

I'm looking at a big collection now and the seller wants Bitcoin. I suspect it is to keep the transaction off the radar.
