I try not to remember too often the ones once held and beloved that no longer live with me and rejoice with the ones I still have. My top 5 are:
1. 1887 OJ Griffith RC 2. E98 Wagner - Orange Border 3. T227 Cobb 4. T205 Wallace - One Line of Stats. 5. Tie - '14 CJ Chance and Bresnahan no #. The stories behind my acquisitions are great personal memories. |

The Ganzel was my contribution to the Old Cardboard W600 gallery. The 2 Rose Co are really tough. Still looking for Niles for the trifecta. The 1906 Williams PC is rare and the E122 Bodie is pop 1 and may be a set rarity.

The 4 Colgans square proofs that I recently picked up are pretty hard to come by.
Card #5 is a non-sports card but pretty hard to find as well. Its the Rocket Freighter card from the 1954 Tip-Top bread set. For perspective, a PSA 2 of this card just sold on eBay for $511. Last edited by Vintagedeputy; 03-27-2022 at 11:16 PM. |

1904 "World Series" Champions..... MLB W.S. was not played in 1904. I acquired this gem in 1991

Ted, I love the pieces, but I am unclear about the reference to the 1904 "World Series" champions. Did you mean to post something else? The Buffalo team you posted were the Eastern League champions in 1904.

Michael As I stated...."MLB W.S. was not played in 1904." The NY Giants refused to play the MLB World Series vs. Boston Americans. There is an excellent, well-written book on this subject titled...."THE YEAR THEY CALLED OFF THE WORLD SERIES", BY Benton Stark. I highly recommend it. The "Junior" World Series ** between the Triple-A Minor League teams Buffalo Bisons (Eastern League) and St. Paul Saints (American Association) was won by Buffalo. ** Note....the Sports media of that era referred this post season event as the Junior W.S. I love to show-it-off. It's such a beautiful piece of artwork. My scan of it is a little off. It is actually more vivid than my posting indicates. TED Z T206 Reference . |
