| T206 color with Brown Hindus

I have had a bunch of these over the years, and they all had pale color on the front compared to cards with common backs. Does anybody know why? I recently bought a Clark Griffith portrait and the color almost had a yellow hue to it....

is the card trimmed, miscut, off-center and in a holder from a grading company no one has ever heard of? can't wait to see it listed on the bst for 15 times what it's worth.

Curious. Maybe post a pic? I’m sure the t206 experts on the board will have well-reasoned theories if not an outright answer for you.

Doesn't appear to be universal as, at least to me, color on this one looks pretty vivid (despite the terrible focus).

I think the color problem is limited to the cards with the dark orange and red backgrounds. Those are frequently a different shade than their non-Hindu counterparts. Look up sales of the Tinker and red Chance portraits, those are the first two that come to mind. Beaumont too.

I used to have a Griffith and Bresnahan, but can't find the scans. Both were normal background color. Here are the only Hindu's that I used to own that I could find scans. Bryan is correct it seems to be the orange and red backgrounds that this occurs, in fact not uncommon at all. |
