I've become a big fan of the Garter cards and have appreciated those that have posted images. I came across this image from a Trader Speaks and was wondering why the card didn't look like the ones posted in the past - i.e. a player in a room in his shorts, with garters showing. Is this another Garters set and is there a designation for differentiating between the two? Thanks. |

i'm no expert on these but there are different types of boston garter cards. The more colorful, soft porn ones and these b'w photo types. |

The Boston Garters were issued over three consecutive years, with each year's issue having a different design. The first two were art/graphic-style, while the third year's was a straight photo design. All issues are rare. |

Not that I can contribute anything useful to this thread but I figured I'd offer some color to the B&W image above... |

Jack, in case you missed it, a profile page on the Old Cardboard website (under the "All Others" tab on the nav bar or go to H813 Boston Garter) includes a brief table that shows front and back examples and compares all three BG subsets. They are designated as H813 in the American Card Catalog. --Lyman |
