I have two cards in the set that have the team designation on the front blanked out (Chance and Chase). Do versions exist with the team name visible? Are they blocked out in the Brunners Bread set only and not on the other brands? Are they a rare and valuable error that can allow me to retire early? |

These are actually the first "traded" cards. The players that have the black mark through their names are the ones that were traded late hence the black mark through the improper team name. The players came both ways on each of the 6 players that are like that (I think it was 6). As far as I know the brand on the back makes no difference in the frequency of them. It's a cool set...too bad they have really sky rocketed in price lately.... |

Would anyone with advanced knowledge of the D304 series of cards care to provide an opinion regarding scarcity of these cards? How tough are these cards relative to some of the caramel issues? Which D304 cards are the toughest to get and which backs are the most difficult? |

In my set of 25, the backs break down as follows: Brunner's (19) General Baking (3), Butter Krust (2) and Weber (1). I don't have a Martens back, which I believe is the toughest. I do not believe there are any scarcities as issued with regard to the fronts. Anecdotally, I found Tenney the toughest, i.e., he was the last of the 25 I acquired. |

After looking at each player's career to get a feel for how this set was dated 1911-1914, it appears that O'Toole was also traded during that period. |

In my happy little collection of 8 D304 cards, I have the following backs. The one blocked out card I have is the Evers card, and like Leon's it is a Martens bakery: |

This is great information! Here's the tally on the backs (up to now):
In no way am I demeaning the efforts of SCD guide (Bob Lemke) because just putting together such a comprehensive checklist and informational guide is something every hobbyist should greatly appreciate, if there's a hobbyist HOF he should be in the initial list of inductees based on his contributions (nuff said). Would anyone else care to post different backs. Thanks for the contributions so far - this is what makes this board so great! |

not sure how these backs are called Butter krust by some (scan borrowed from Bruce's web-site)..Looks like Fleischman's Bakery to me if one wants to be consistent. |

There are 5 players with these variations. None are tougher than the other although I have been searching for 1 to complete my set. Chance, Chase, Crandal, Herzog, Evers. |
