Default December Pick-Up Thread

Don’t know I’ve ever started one of these ….

A Danny Hoffman is one I had not seen an example of since collecting nothing but Howe’s stamped cards in 2007. Now just 97 away from having a complete set with Howe’s stamp.

Bought in November, arrived in December. The last 2 for my Grover Hartley collection (see the other thread for more info). The Merchants Bakery is the only one known to exist to my knowledge and actually came from a fellow Net54 member (thank you Mark).

You shouldn't use the word "chipping" when showing a T205.

First card of this type. Successful Farming - Zimmerman. I think it’s a promotional set.

Added my seventh different Diamond Matchbook of Carl Hubbell, specifically the first one on the left, which is his 1934 U1 green variation.

Weirdly, there is no master set checklist covering all of these issues, so some guest work is involved in terms of knowing just how many more Carl Hubbell matchbooks there are. I do know I need the green U3-1 and the blue U4, and I suspect/hope that makes all of them.

Pretty scare card of Spahn, very regional. Love the card but hate the holder. The laziness of PSA never ceases to amaze me.

Great card. Sadly, PSA doesn’t give a rat’s ass about how a card is holders or looks in their slab.

Great items everyone.

Jeff, love those type 1 Cobb photo's. They're terrific! Lastly, I was the underbidder on your gorgeous E103 Cobb. Sorry that I cost you a couple bumps in bids. We seem to like the same stuff

Keeping the type 1 photo theme going. The Big Train just arrived.

Got my REA winnings, the Freeman's auction box of 1950's-60's and went to a coin show and local card show today.

Picked one item to be the highlight... runner up was the Gilligan's Island set from REA although there were a few other significant items in the REA box.

Presents much nicer in hand, the scanner makes every fold look like the grand canyon.

I feel you. My scanner sometimes makes imperceptible by the naked eye stains on my m114 posters look like Jackson Pollock practiced on them.

A tough one arrived today in the Warren Spahn PC. You don’t see these for sale often….1950 Drakes. A little paper loss on the framing, but I’ll take it!

I got this one a while back, but got logged out for a while and then our picture issues, so never got around to posting. Pretty happy to land a tough Merkle.

If the person that bought the T215 lot from Leighton is a board member here, I’d love to get that Merkle Red Cross if that a duplicate for your set.

E300 Plows Fred Merkle

Enjoy,
Bob

Thanks Jim! I try to find something I really love when it’s not a T206.

Love getting Merkle on my oddball cards!
