Default Baseball Mascots' HOF...

I would start with the San Diego Chicken and the Philly Phanatic.

Those two, IMO, are in a class by themselves.

Anyone else have a 'nominee'?

I think the Philly Phanatic is # 1 followed closely by the Chicken and then....not much after that.

I don't remember another time where a mascot irritated an opposing teams manager as much as the Phanatic did with Tommy Lasorda prompting Lasorda to come running out of the dugout.

Default Iconic but not PC

Chief Nokahoma (sp?) gotta love that celebration after a homer! Like I said NOT PC but still kinda cool. And for that matter….. what about the guy sliding into the beer in Milwaukee or the racing Sausages? I guess these aren’t really mascots but they were fun

I enjoy Orbit at the Astros games I attend. He's fun to watch pregame when he interacts with opposing players. Most take it in stride and have some fun giving him grief right back. Tim Anderson of the White Sox put on a show with Orbit
that I remember in particular before a game a few seasons back. OTOH, once in a while, he'll annoy some player who is not in a humourous mood and makes it obvious he'd rather not be messed with. But Orbit has a fun routine he goes through when that happens as well.

On a semi-related note.. when I was teaching elementary school we'd have visits from most of the Houston team mascots yearly. Clutch, the Houston Rockets' bear mascot was always amazing. But one year he made his entrance by running up the aisle we made through the kiddos on the floor. He stopped and stood over (literally) the kinder kids, one of whom freaked, jumped up screaming, and bolted out of the gym before any adult could stop her. Fun times.

1 vote for an anti mascot, the short lived Krusty Krab of the SF Giants.

I consider Max Patkin to be the father of the current mascot.

Love your choices. Personally, I would flip to Chicken first and Phanatic second but either works.

For added fun and for those that may not remember 4/9/1974…The Grand Hatching!

I got chewed out by the Phillie Phanatic as a 13 year old in Lakehurst New Jersey in the Spring or Summer of 1980. He was at a supermarket in the parking lot for a promotional appearance with a very large crowd. I was near the front and when he attempted to throw out wrapped rolled up posters into the crowd I kept jumping up and grabbing them and I imagine by the third one he had enough and let me have it. I had it coming.

Not baseball, but Rocky of the Nuggets, Benny(?) the Bull and Gritty of the Flyers definitely belong in the HOF.

Got this through the mail in 1982 by following the instructions on the back of the card...

...and saw him performing during a Buffalo Bisons game (in the stadium from 'The Natural') a few years later. That was frickin' awesome!!!
