Yes, you read that correct, I am buying your *empty* liquor bottles.

I am after Bourbon, Whiskeys, etc that are vintage, special release or year. Liquor has been my latest investment avenue and am looking to acquire more!
Feel free to message me or comment below !

I'm not a lawyer, but I would hate for anyone to get in trouble just because they weren't aware of the law. Generally it is illegal to buy and sell full bottles of alcohol. If it’s empty…no problem. However, if it’s full, it's almost always a violation of the law. Laws generally don’t have a different standard for “collectible” bottles, and the police will generally view such a transaction as an illegal sale of alcohol between individuals. In fact, state police and liquor agents have been known to respond to Craigslist ads offering rare bottles for sale, then arrest the seller.
There are actually very few legal options for individuals to sell “collectible” bottles of wines or whiskey, other than to go through a licensed auction house.

I was thinking the same about being illegal. You as the seller does not have a liquor license and how can you verify the age of the person you are selling to.

How about offering a finders fee for any bottles you are looking for?

.
All valid points. It is difficult both to buy and sell collectible and sought after bottles of spirits in light of current state-based laws. Finder fee a fine idea except would only be useful with purchasing from licensed establishments. Otherwise, back to issue regarding lack of proper licensing on the seller. And that does not get around those states with laws limiting/prohibiting shipping across state lines. Fine point regarding Reddit and other public online marketplaces. Facebook has really cracked down on private groups with members that make post regarding the private buying/selling/distribution of spirits. I know as one FB whiskey group I am a member of is educating membership on what not to say. Several such FB groups have already been shut down by FB police.

Fine and collectible spirits have gotten a lot of exposure in past several years, with ungodly amounts of money exchanged. But the legal landscape makes it extremely challenging. Too much so for me personally. But maybe some day a change in laws will make this area of collecting and commerce worth a second look. Especially for those who bunkered quantities of decent spirits years ago and now fine those bottles highly sought after by the general public and flippers alike.

PS-wish I had given more thought on how to I would be able to dispose of quantities of bottles prior to actually purchasing. Guess I was banking on the possibility that state laws across the US would someday loosen for “collectible” bottles of spirits, allowing me to sell my stock.

then you have the problem of people taking empty bottles like Pappy Van Winkle and refilling them with cheap bourbon and reselling. This happens ALL the time. And buying and selling of bourbon via Facebook and other groups is a huge business. It goes on all the time shipped through most every shipper's system.
