Walter Johnson Estate Original Type 1 High School Class photo
$7,250. Shipping and insurance include. From the Walter Johnson estate, with LOA from Henry W. Thomas, Johnson's grandson and biographer. This is Johnson's own original Fullerton Union (California) high school class group photo, presumably from his last year there of 1905. The 17 year-old was the pitching star of the baseball team that year, and here he conveniently stands out in relief at the top of the entrance, with a circle penned in over his head for further identification, probably done by his own hand. 8"x5" with a few creases and minor paper loss, none of which impinges on Johnson's image. Scrapbook paper residue on the back.
