![]() Rising prices like this does seem to bring the cards out of the woodwork. People who have been sitting on these cards for some time are finally seeing the time may be right to sell. Typically you'd see prices lower a bit as more cards go up for sale, too, but lately that doesn't seem to have much of a bearing on prices. |

Had planned on getting a 7 so I'd have a 'true" Ryan rookie aside from my MB. Current prices are going to make that a tough proposition.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/262463838666...84.m1436.l2649 I know, I know, centering is not perfect, but it's all still so nuts. Especially considering many 6's look like borderline 7's, and vice versa. That said, I'm entertained by this past year's excitement. Reminds me of the ole Beckett arrow up, arrow down days. |

I think Nolan will eventually come back down. Too much supply to sustain the inflated prices. And I bet half or more of the Ryans aren't even graded yet.

![]() Yep, there's no way that (gem) mint cards from 50 years ago could be hiding in an attic somewhere in Ohio. Only 100 year old cards are found there. |

There might be a few 8s or better out there still raw. But I would guess a lot more than 50% of the high quality Ryans have been graded. Especially with today's standards that seem more strict.

I agree, but the '71 for sale on PWCC (psa 9) seems like it came out of nowhere. Has a recent flip and couldn't find previous sale. I would be a little suspicious to see a PSA 9 or 10 rookie Ryan show up from an attic. ![]() ![]() |

no, a bump stays the same cert.

Is there a way to verify a card was bumped; or do you have to get lucky and find a prior sale at a lessor grade?
|

that would be way above my pay grade.
i simply know from previous bump experience that they have all kept the same cert #. if ya do find out anything, please lemme know though. |

are you kidding me?
by posting that question, you obviously still don't! the only 2 cards that i think something fishy might be occurring is the rose and ryan solely because the 10s are coming up for auction...and that makes sense. however you keep claiming that it's every rookie card ever and mantle. proof was shown to you and you still have the balls to keep claiming this crap? you've shown zero evidence or proof otherwise and now are bordering the line of idiocy in my humble opinion there, pete. its old and tiresome. get over the fact that you sold your koufax a wee-bit too soon and recognize the hobby is healthy. |

could they come back down?
sure. everything that goes up, does come down. we all know that. will they ever drop back down to be remotely as close to where they were before you guys started in w/ all this crap? most definitely not. i don't see pete getting his koufax 7 back for for $1750... EVER! Last edited by begsu1013; 06-15-2016 at 12:18 PM. |

Cashing in is what you should be doing--taking advantage of an obviously speculative boom. Collectibles simply don't increase in value that rapidly when the demand is coming from legitimate, knowledgeable collectors. When investors are selling to more investors, with substantial price increases at every step of the way, the trend lasts only as long as new investors enter the field. In the end, it is essentially a Ponzi scheme. When there is no legitimate COLLECTOR who desires and will keep, treasure and take pride in having the card at the price levels eventually reached, the bottom falls out, as mathematically it must. Value = Demand/supply, and if the demand has been formed by pure investors who have largely or entirely left the field, and thus depleted, the real value is what the legitimate collector, who remains and constitutes virtually the only source of demand, will pay for the card at the end of the day! Put your money in quieter, more truly rare and significant areas of the hobby.
Hoping you all do well with your collecting, Larry Last edited by ls7plus; 06-16-2016 at 02:39 PM. |

if i was in it for the money, id agree. did i buy the 68 ryan 9 @ $72k? of course not. am i fool for not cashing in the ones i have now? probably. will i sleep tight if they come tumbling back down to $35K? i think so. would i sleep tight if i got $72k each for them but felt like i sold my soul? probably not. did i think the card in an 8 was undervalued? sure did. did i scoop up a bunch of 8's for well under $3k? damn right i did. do i think the best way to bump a card is to submit 10 plus examples and go for the 8.5 or 9? i sure do, with several examples to back that theory up. did i cash in on those bumps? nope. am i worried one way or another? not a single bit. do i think these prices will be sustained and continue to double/quadruple weekly, monthly? already said no. do i think they will return to the price point before all this bs started? no. and neither does 70% of the board. and finally for the record, have i started threads like "koufax 7 now a $3K card", "nolan doubles", " 63 rose 7", "hysterical" and pepper just about every thread w/ negative comments and conspiracy theories w/o providing one solid piece of concrete evidence? nope. i even threw a few cards up to gather an unbiased opinion and see if there were any red flags to this so called buying group theory. felt like i was combing the desert w/ the black guys and the pick in space balls. but it did get old. and quick. hell, i tried to consolidate them and have an honest debate out it. ya literally have to bounce around 8+ different threads to even attempt to keep up. again, the poll speaks for itself. edit: sorry, that figure is 76.31% as of 11:43pm on 6/16/2016. of course, it's probably being manipulated by some polling group...
