I was looking through old images and thought this could become an exciting show and tell thread. Here are four cards/variations that are not easy to find and I've had two examples of each. I know there are much tougher ones out there so please show yours.
Mine: T209 Presley/Pritchard Combo, T206 Lundgren PD350 back, E107 Seybold, T206 Double Name Ganley

I think the Planks are the winner, but here are a few that I own multiple copies due to color tinting.

Well that was a fun thread.
Beauties Scott, love the crispness on the 150!

Thanks Chris, the 150's are so far ahead of the 350's in terms of color and sharpness. By the time they printed the 350's the stones were very worn AND they did not ink the presses nearly as often as production runs were quite a bit higher. This difference is very obvious on all of the 150 vs 350 runs. I once won a bet that i could pick out the 150 vs 350 out of a dealers binder by the fronts only
![]() Here is the 150 Plank by itself. The 150 hardly ever makes an auction appearance as everyone saves them and peddles the washed out 350s |

Don't let the Plank's kill the thread, they are tough cards, but pricey. We all know there are a myriad of cards that are less
popular/expensive that are multiple times rarer than Plank or Wagner, etc. Last edited by sb1; 08-29-2014 at 05:17 PM. |

A pair of Jimmy Manning Tomlinson cabinets. I thought my first copy was unique until a second surfaced years later and now I have both.

I think I only have 4 of these red ones left out of the 5 I previously owned.....Not the priciest cards but still very scarce. The Davis red back is in a SGC 60 holder now. I remember getting 4 of them from an 81 yr old guy in a parking lot, several years back, at a grocery store in Coppell TX, late at night. It was like we were doing something wrong and we weren't. It was a strange place to get these type cards in a deal. I guess that kind of thing is what makes collecting fun too.

I have a horror story of mine that brings up bad memories, I was part of a HUGE "find" in the 1980s of 1957-58 Topps Hoops that were still in the original stand up 1 penny vending machines! Never taken out!!!! There was no Beckett at the time so I put a classified ad in SCD for the 2 and one half NM/MT sets that I had and I made about $1000 which to me at the time was BIG money! I know for a fact that almost every high grade card out there came from my "find" that I basically gave away!
It seems that Vermont is quite the repository of RARE untouched basketball cards since this 1957 cache and the recent 1948 Bowman Series 1 Basketball both were "found" within 40 miles of each other. Both collections were found just as they looked back then. I'm thinking of quitting my job and going door to door to find that Series 2 1948 stash! ![]() peace, mik ![]() P.S. The 57-58's were sold to a guy from California and I seriously can't remember whom (as I was still in high school at the time) but if you are reading this.......ugh! P.S. #2 This "find" also had a vending with 1957 Topps Westerns, one with 1960 Topps Baseball, and one with 1961 Topps Baseball. It appeared that they were the remnants in an attic of an old store owner and he had taken cards from vending boxes and put them in the machines as I don't believe Topps would have sent him the machines? The machines were all full and the keys were missing so we drilled them and found the little Mint (ok NM/MT) nuggets inside. I still have nightmares about not keeping those cards! One of the scarcest is a D355 Niagara Baking card of Otto Knabe. But I traded that one away about eight years ago.
Here's another scarce one that still is in my collection: ![]() ![]() |

Three Ty Cobb backs will be hard to beat. Theoretically, it cannot be beat beaten by even 3 Wagner's. Would 3 Doyle's do it?
