I was looking through old images and thought this could become an exciting show and tell thread. Here are four cards/variations that are not easy to find and I've had two examples of each. I know there are much tougher ones out there so please show yours.

Mine: T209 Presley/Pritchard Combo, T206 Lundgren PD350 back, E107 Seybold, T206 Double Name Ganley

I think the Planks are the winner, but here are a few that I own multiple copies due to color tinting.

Well that was a fun thread.

Beauties Scott, love the crispness on the 150!

Chicken Dinner.

Keep showing. Don't let the trump card keep you away.

Thanks Chris, the 150's are so far ahead of the 350's in terms of color and sharpness. By the time they printed the 350's the stones were very worn AND they did not ink the presses nearly as often as production runs were quite a bit higher. This difference is very obvious on all of the 150 vs 350 runs. I once won a bet that i could pick out the 150 vs 350 out of a dealers binder by the fronts only :)

Here is the 150 Plank by itself. The 150 hardly ever makes an auction appearance as everyone saves them and peddles the washed out 350s

sb1 08-29-2014 05:17 PM

Don't let the Plank's kill the thread, they are tough cards, but pricey. We all know there are a myriad of cards that are less
popular/expensive that are multiple times rarer than Plank or Wagner, etc.

A pair of Jimmy Manning Tomlinson cabinets. I thought my first copy was unique until a second surfaced years later and now I have both.

Sorry Kenny but one's a '24-25 and the other is a '25 (according to the Bible aka SGC). J/K.

Love this thread already... I once owned two of these Marquard "pre-rookies"...

Very nice. I didn't even know that one existed.

I had two E254 Colgans of Elmer Flick with Toledo.

Although I do not have images of all the pairs, over the years I have had duplicate Old Judges of Deacon White, Charlie Bennett, Cupid Childs, Lave Cross, Jim McCormick, and this guy (more than two :D)...

Iwantmorecards77 08-30-2014 09:20 AM

The closest I had was last year when I picked up two T205 Matty (Cycles.) Kept one and sold the other in REA.

I think I only have 4 of these red ones left out of the 5 I previously owned.....Not the priciest cards but still very scarce. The Davis red back is in a SGC 60 holder now. I remember getting 4 of them from an 81 yr old guy in a parking lot, several years back, at a grocery store in Coppell TX, late at night. It was like we were doing something wrong and we weren't. It was a strange place to get these type cards in a deal. I guess that kind of thing is what makes collecting fun too.

Not a card but I have owned 2 out of the 3 known Cameo Pepsin Cy Young pinbacks.

MacDice 08-30-2014 04:59 PM

I was going to show my run of 1987 Topps Jose Canseco's but since I don't like to show off, I will hold off on posting them.

I have two of the same Player's League cards, 1890 Old Judges. The PL is in the picture, to the right of his foot. There are PL poses with just one example known, including one I have(not shown)

There is nothing rare about "this guy", he makes up nearly 11% of my OJ collection

At least 2 of EVERY 1957-58 Topps Basketball out of Vending....

I have a horror story of mine that brings up bad memories, I was part of a HUGE "find" in the 1980s of 1957-58 Topps Hoops that were still in the original stand up 1 penny vending machines! Never taken out!!!! There was no Beckett at the time so I put a classified ad in SCD for the 2 and one half NM/MT sets that I had and I made about $1000 which to me at the time was BIG money! I know for a fact that almost every high grade card out there came from my "find" that I basically gave away!

It seems that Vermont is quite the repository of RARE untouched basketball cards since this 1957 cache and the recent 1948 Bowman Series 1 Basketball both were "found" within 40 miles of each other. Both collections were found just as they looked back then. I'm thinking of quitting my job and going door to door to find that Series 2 1948 stash!

peace, mik:)

P.S. The 57-58's were sold to a guy from California and I seriously can't remember whom (as I was still in high school at the time) but if you are reading this.......ugh!
P.S. #2 This "find" also had a vending with 1957 Topps Westerns, one with 1960 Topps Baseball, and one with 1961 Topps Baseball. It appeared that they were the remnants in an attic of an old store owner and he had taken cards from vending boxes and put them in the machines as I don't believe Topps would have sent him the machines? The machines were all full and the keys were missing so we drilled them and found the little Mint (ok NM/MT) nuggets inside. I still have nightmares about not keeping those cards!

One of the scarcest is a D355 Niagara Baking card of Otto Knabe. But I traded that one away about eight years ago.

Here's another scarce one that still is in my collection:

You own two of these! I've hunted this back in silence for a long time with no lick of uncovering a find. Not willing to pay auction house prices. This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. You have two of what many people just want one of.

E93 08-31-2014 02:45 PM

I no longer own the top one or bottom one.

1927 Gehrig

Shown before but I have two copies of the very rare E210-2 York Caramel Lou Gehrig.

I plan on keeping them a long time...maybe even trying for a third:D

I lost my external hard drive so I have very few scans available now, and no time to re-create hundreds of baseball card scans:mad:

Tao -- I just have the one (Doolan, Fielding), but thought I should show the front and back

Marc, we had a thread about 6 months ago regarding whether Pirate cards were ever distributed in packs.

The set of 96 that were sold in 2005 or 2006 were mostly high grade, and the 5 sold by REA last year were all hand cut, as yours appears to be as well. What do you think? And if you don't mind, can you tell us where you got it? :)

glchen 08-31-2014 10:53 PM

Wow! That's an incredible Cobb back run!

Tao_Moko 09-01-2014 05:42 AM

Three Ty Cobb backs will be hard to beat. Theoretically, it cannot be beat beaten by even 3 Wagner's. Would 3 Doyle's do it?

I currently have these two 1921-22 Schapira Bros. Big Show Candy cards of WaJo (hey Brian - you need to add one of these to your nice collection of Schapiras! :))

Approx. 15-20 years ago, I had dupes of 1911 Baseball Bats Candy card of WaJo (see my avatar) as well as the 1925 Holland Creameries card of WaJo (see below). Wish I still had them!
