The 3 sets of E91 American Caramels don't get much love. While the first set E91A actually does resemble the players listed on the cards, the E91B and E91C sets reuse the poses and do not resemble the player listed.
After many years of searching, I finally landed an E91A John Kling. Patrick Last edited by Vintagecatcher; 08-18-2014 at 10:23 PM. |

Nice card Patrick from a fun and definitely misunderstand set, and just a slight correction. About 1/2 of the E91B set is a duplicate of the E91A set (same player designation and pose with only the back checklist different).
On a side note Kling is a player that did not get carried over into the E91B set. Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 08-18-2014 at 10:58 PM. Reason: Made the Kling info an aside |

Here is a M116 of Kling...check out the facial similarities. The artist in these sets used the same photo source.

Here are the 3 E91s that use the same pose:
Johnny Kling E91A, James Archer E91B, and George Gibson E91C. Patrick |

Hi Brian,
Thanks for your responses. Unless I'm missing something, James Archer is the card in set B that carries over the Kling E91A design. Thanks, Patrick |

No. First of all you have to only judge by facial characteristics. The bodies of the E91 players are generic. Just because the artist might be considered stylistically challenged doesn't mean that many of the E91A cards, and about 1/2 of the E91B set, aren't based upon either exact photos as used in other contemporary sets such as T206, M116, E254 etc.
Look at the Kling again. The exact angle of the head, placement of the ear, even his beady little eyes are on par with what is seen on the M116 card. The artist just liked to make his players look a little more "cheruby".
