Default Horizontal t206 Poses bring premium?

I recently picked up a horizontal t206 (Jack Powell) for a decent price. I had always assumed than since only a few cards come in horizontal poses, that they would bring some type of premium, but judging by the price I paid for the Powell, this doesn't seem to necessarily be true.

So I guess my question to you guys is, do these horizontal t206 cards actually bring any type of premium at all?

Thanks

Definitely a premium on some of them, esp Pelty & Pattee.

Default Queston about premiums on non-horizontal T206s

Is 48.9% premium too high to pay for a PSA-6 ?

Default Thanks for the info John, but, actually...

Since the card manufacturers got his name wrong (Helms not Helm) - I thought he may have been mistakenly tagged as a Southern Leaguer, even thought the 'Columbus' on the card references the Columbus (GA) Foxes of the South Atlantic League, but then I noticed that he played for two teams in the Southern Association in 1908 and, even though that was a separate entity from the actual Southern League that followed, I guess that is close enough, huh? - and I accept you knowledgeable interpretation of the T206 designation.

Oh, no, Raymond, it's ok. I didn't think you were being disrespectful. I just thought I was losing my mind there for a second. I've been going on about 4 hours of sleep the last two days, and I thought I was missing something.

We're cool.

And yes, it does appear that the card has been mislabeled. I'll have to check some other sites to see where this card is listed. But that research will have to wait until my eyes aren't crossing.

Have a great weekend.

You are not alone Bill (John). I was scurrying to check my mental image file for a horizontal and kept coming up with a vertical image for Helm. I missed the "hi-jack" post.

Premium pricing was the tie-in - I thought.

Don't think Helm is a horizontal. From what I recall, there are six T206 cards in that category:

Birmingham
Mullin (throwing)
Murphy (throwing)
Pattee
Pelty
Powell

Best regards,

Eric

No worries, Raymond. I was commenting on my own lack of observational skills this morning, pre-coffee.

Now I'm not sure?

To my knowledge, there isn't a Horizontal T206 of a Southern Leaguer!
And I believe that the Pelty was either being Horded or maybe even scarce enough to have caused a price increase... not sure about the Pattee?

I do think some of the more advances T206 Collector's may have a little more insight into the Pelty and the Pattee...

Pelty is slightly higher demand because it is a horizontal. It is also popular because there are quite a few collectors who collect Jewish players.

It is also somewhat scarcer than most commons because the card was was only released early in the print run. It only exists in the 150 subjects series.

The somewhat larger demand and slightly less supply doesn't explain the huge premiums the card commands. It is popular with the hoarders for sure.

If I recall correctly, the Pattee is frequently listed as one of the best looking cards in the white borders set.

Nice display Ted. Now shall we restart the debate about whether or not Dunn should be considered horizontal?
