Default Are You A T206 Collector?

What percentage of Net54'ers collect T206 cards? Let's try to keep it binary -- either you do or you don't. There is no gray in this poll.

Yes, particularly ones with stamps on the back but they don't have to be stamped for me to buy them.

Default T206

Yes, they're the only cards I collect

Hopefully one day I'll at least get to 518, with possibly most of the backs represented.

Sincerely, Clayton

Same boat here - should have a category of "have some but not an active / aggressive collector of them"

Have had close to 100 but never pursued the set or never will. Great cards but if I collected the set I would want it all.....Wagner, Plank, Magie, Doyle, etc,etc..to me anything less is a partial set or near set....so it will never happen....still have a a few that I'm keeping for PC

I'm mostly on this side with T206 but buy some on occasion that I like. Am also gradually working on a Yankee subset for them. I don't see myself ever pursuing the whole set. It's a great set, but too common and widely collected for me. There's just too much else to pass up on!

At this stage I would take gray, red, black, brown....whatever, but it ain't happening.

As for T206, I said yes, because I have around 30-45....but I only collect oddities, backs and any card I like. ...cause that's just the way I roll.

I accumulated 40-50 when I was about 13 or 14 (back in the early 70's), and they still seem very great to me. I now have about half the set, but I am not trying to complete it.

I confess, in the case of those two '33 Gehrigs, to becoming too enamored with my inventory - I just love that card.

I picked up around 100 low grade cards a couple of years ago when I was really motivate but since my interest level has decreased substantially. Part of me wants to dump them and go after something different (1933 Goudey) but I just can't pull the trigger.

Default Static Cling

Never has been a main focus, but over the years if you collect all 20th century Pre-WW2 like I do, the things just kind of end up sticking to the collection as if they were statically charged.

I can't imagine why any collector would not have a few, or at least an example in their little cardboard piles...they are about as recognizable and historically relevant an issue we have to collect.

When I first got into prewar (nearly 10 years ago), I had great ambitions of chasing the monster. I was building a Giants subset while mixing in as many backs as I could. I only made it about 10% into the set when I realized just how many other issues were out there that clearly needed to be collected

In the years since, my collection has evolved regularly. I'll likely never return to trying to complete the monster, mostly because of the big 4, but there will likely always be a 'T206 component' to whatever I'm collecting.

Regards,

Richard.

I answered no...because I no longer buy T206's. I still have maybe 10-15 of them in my collection...and I will most likely always have my green cobb.

I bought my first T206 in the early eighties...and T206's are what got me seriously into vintage in the early nineties...back collecting...and while I joke a lot about not liking them...show me one of Tony A's incredible portraits...or a super rare back...or a bizarre freak...and it still get's my juices flowing...how can it not?!

part of the reason they do not appeal to me is because they are so recognizable, owning a couple at this point would look out of place in my collection.

I had a lot of the same for probably two decades...then BANG! it hit me and I have been hooked ever since. They aren't eating anything and are certainly holding their value...I would recommend hanging on to them. You can sell them anytime, but you can only sell them once.
