Is staining acceptable on all Cracker Jack cards? I've noticed staining on most cards up to SGC 80/PSA 6.

On 1914 cards staining is a prerequisite. 1915 cards didn't always come in the boxes and examples exist without stains.

Yikes! Stains on a psa6 ...outrageous! That would be like giving an 8 to a trimmed card........oops.......never mind.

Seriously though, shouldn't all cards be graded to the same standards? As far as "acceptable"...that is personal taste. I for one would never be interested in a stained card, trimmed card, card with paper loss, card with a mark on it, holes in a card or creases that "break" the paper fibers. A mild wrinkle or soft corners are okay with me (if the price is right). As far as grading goes PSA is all over the place. I don't trust em. SGC seems a little more consistent but I bustem all out anyway. aloha, dave.

I like the fact that the graders use some discretion with the Cracker Jacks. By the way, if you ever want to get over your aversion to off grade cards, I suggest that you take up collecting E220's. It cured me.

busting them out is the only way to go. of course they dont use the same standards for all cards, and all graders within the same company grade different too. thats why someone can send in a card and it comes back a psa 6, then take it out of the holder, send it back in and it comes back a psa 8, a 60 dollar card is now an 800 dollar card. its insanity but people seem to love insanity.

only in bizarro world can a 10 pristine card still have flaws, its right in their description. we would think a 10 would be impeccably and unimprovably perfect. but no, we would all be wrong, it's a psa 11 that is perfect.

If you read the grading standards for PSA, a card graded 6 "may show some loss of original gloss, may have minor wax stain on reverse." If a card can exhibit wax stains from a wax pack, I find it completely acceptable that a CJ can exhibit staining as well and still be graded a 6. I think it's spelled out pretty clearly in their standards.

There is a big difference between minor wax stains on the back of a card and caramel stains on the front.
