Its been sometime since my last e145-2 purchase and picked up my cicotte giving me 59 cards with a 1914 mcgraw (2nd worst card of my set) that was advertised as 1915. This is my favorite set, scrutinize over the most and have simply enjoyed collecting from day 1. I want to see what others have, any displays, an e145-1 matty would be awesome.
Also, feebay sales have seem to risen dramatically in the last 1-2 months for some reason and led me to this drought. Any to sell/trade let me know, but in the meantimes help a junkie out. Last edited by rainier2004; 11-03-2011 at 05:27 PM. |

Here's my one and only '14 CJ. Also, for what it's worth, PSA has just
started a Crack Jack Player Autograph Collection in their Registry. Not sure if your into the autograph thing, but between the 4 autographs I already have graded, and the 5 I just submitted, I have a total of 9 players signatures (not yet posted on registry). http://www.psacard.com/DNASetRegistr...ion.aspx?c=141 |

Is this thread now the official Cracker Jack thread? There has not to my knowledge been a thread with an indepth discussion on these great sets. It sorta seemed to me that they don't get much repect somehow....is it price or are the lack of back variations and error cards the reason?

Yanks4,
I feel the same and have not been able to pin down why this set isn't more talked about. Don't get me wrong its a popular set but it doesn't garner anywhere near the attention that the t206 set gets imho. Vibrant colors, great HOFers present, brand has strong connection of baseball history...

OK.......
How many total sets are out there Psa, SGC and others? What are the hardest commons? How many collectors on this forum are trying to put a set together? and what condition (grade span)? Do you like the fact that your cards have slight staining on them to prove that they came out of a box or do you want sterile clean cards in any grade? |

Here's my problem with Cracker Jacks, and its sort of my same issue with M116s...
How do you calculate for condition when there are so many that were found in pristine condition in envelopes many years later? There is just so much opportunity to be one-upped condition-wise, and I really don't think they look that great with staining -- even if staining is normal. There are just too many high grade CJs on ebay even as I type this now to get a rationale value for lesser condition stuff, in my humble opinion.

I like the stains as they add character and were obtained in the child-like way of eating candy. Im going ro the set, trying to finish in 10 years, in lower grade 1-3 range. My cards need to be writing free, rip free, no pin holes but dont mind other damage but focusing on eye appeal. Started in may 2010 on this, my most favorite of cards. And who cares about being 1-up'd? I try not compare my cards to others and focus on buying a condition I can live with and enjoy and not cringe at.

I don't mind the stains if they aren't too dark and aren't on the player's face. Here's a few more CJs:
