I stayed away from, but can someone tell me why the crazy high price jump.
This very same bat sold at Legendary Auctions 2006 for $528. 4 years later Mears sells it for almost $3000. http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...px?lotid=69596 http://www.mearsonlineauctions.com/L...at---1-of-1-On What I did not like about this bat is yes both say Carroll, and if a player named Carroll, or even better Chuck Carroll played from the from 1923-1932 as the dating on the 2 bats indicate I have no problem. But there wasn't. A Charles Carroll played 1910-1929, so that covers the 1st bat, and another Charles Carroll played from 1925-1932, so that covers the 2nd bat, but not the 1st. Pretty unlikely Buck knew both Chuck Carrolls and liked both their bats ; ) I know the description, and the 2, rather then 1, sells this, but is it possible to find an old bat with any players name on it from the same time frame as one of the Black Sox players and just write one of there names on it in that old grease pencil or whatever it is and say hey that must be a barnstorming bat. I'm probably off on this but it just seems weird. Last edited by Shoeless Moe; 01-30-2011 at 06:11 AM. |
