I would like to start a poll on your favorite grading service.
I like the look of SGC, but have heard that PSA is still considered the #1 choice with collectors and investors. Which one do you prefer? |

I went ahead and made a poll for you in your thread. I only included the 2 you named but I personally prefer Beckett over PSA.....however, since you only asked about SGC and PSA I didn't change it.......remember, you can always do a poll and there is also a testing forum to try stuff before you do it...regards

I don't think there's much of a debate that SGC is #1 with regards to pre-war cards.

SGC for prewar. PSA for postwar.

Maybe we can do a more specific poll later but, again, I didn't really want to change anything with the original poster's question...

I Think SGC /PSA are equally as good and both company’s are subject to human error regarding inaccurate grading. That being said my first choice would be SGC due to having supported black inserts within there graded containers. There’s no real difference between the two leading grading companies.
I also believe the poll should add Beckett as well. This top three grading companies should be represented as legitimate grading source. |

A "prewar" card just looks far superior in an Sgc holder.
Both visually and condition related. Tony A. |

I use and like both and there are advantages to using both companies.
So I can't vote since the choice is either/or. Perhaps a couple more options like .... c) like them both d) do not like either will help gauge the voting, so more can respond. Last edited by Jay Wolt; 10-19-2009 at 10:48 AM. |

You will always hear buy the card and not the holder. For me SGC cards I buy the holder because I know the cards inside are what the grade says. As far as PSA I really buy the card cause the holder will be SGC in a matter of months anyways.(if it crosses

I added Beckett but it's not really fair to them since a lot of folks have already voted. Maybe we can start another one soon with some more options?......

I typically buy cards that are already in a SGC or PSA holder. On occasion I find a card that is not graded and want to get it graded. I had a unique card that I wanted confirmation that they could grade it before I sent it to them. Both companies at first were hesitant but after providing documentation to support the card, SGC agreed to grade it. PSA spent 2 weeks reviewing my documentation and never proactivley contacted me back. At that point I called PSA to see what their decision was. They then told me to send it in with payment and if they could not grade it, I would get a credit from them for grading of another card. That did not impress me and sounds like they wanted my money before they would agree or disagree. I wasn't wanting a specific grade but just wanted them to confirm or deny it was a valid card (Authentic Grade).

It's also not fair to the "real" and "true" collectors who don't have an option on the poll to voice their abhorrence of graded cards. We hardly ever hear from them ...
