I was looking for T205's and others on Ebay when I saw a T205 Cobb in a PRO Grading case as a 4. I also found a few T206's from the same seller. I checked out what they were selling and all cards are Pro Graded. I am wondering if anyone has bought one of theses cards and not had it be altered or reprints. Some of the cards look like reprints to me but what do I know, and a feedback has an Aaron Rc being returned but did not say why. Just looking for any info about this so called grading company.

PRO Graded cards are usually authentic, but most of the high grade ones are trimmed.
I would love to buy low grade PRO cards because they will probably be cheaper than a raw card because of all the collectors scared of the PRO holder. But Ive only bough PRO cards 2 times, and both were great deals. One was a common Tango Egg card (McQuillen) I got for pennies on the $. And the other PRO card I still have is this one below... The slab is huge and very high quality, but its way too big for a card thats slightly larger than a Postcard. I could use it as a cutting board! ![]() 1948 American Association Babe Ruth Last edited by fkw; 10-01-2009 at 10:59 PM. |

It's hard to check anything closely with the crappy scans. Why wouldn't someone selling these types of items provide decent scans? Makes me think that the seller doesn't want the cards to be scrutinized.

I've always stayed away because of horror stories of trimmed cards, but I just went to their site and was impressed/surprised by these two points:

I've bought a few PRO cards over the years and they always crossed over.
PRO 6 to SGC A, PRO 8 to SGC A and PRO 7 to SGC 20. I think the cards they grade and slab are authentic, the problem is they are almost always trimmed. When I crossed these 3over, I broke them out and submitted them raw. Last edited by tbob; 10-02-2009 at 03:37 PM. |

Yep, I was just thinking that those PRO holders would be great for protecting the cards I leave on the dash of my car.

Haha very true, although I know some people like to display them on wall shelves or frames.

I purchased a few some years ago. All trimmed. Then again, so were some of the GAI slabbed cards I bought...Amazing PRO is still alive. I'd have thought that an angry mob would have encapsulated its owner in his own machine by now.

Once............ a PRO 7.5 crossed to an SGC 60. Thankfully no trimming on that one. I would be very, very careful, all above posts have merit.

Here's a '63 "mini" Aaron PRO 10....sold for $58 a couple of days ago.
What would a PSA-10 or SGC-98 '63 Aaron fetch? |

What would a PSA-10 or SGC-98 '63 Aaron fetch? According to VCP around $1500 on average for 9+ from SGC and PSA. What a deal on that HUH ![]() Last edited by Pup6913; 10-03-2009 at 10:23 AM. |

Only bought one Pro graded card off eBay of a 1915 Cracker Jack Branch Rickey. It was graded EX-Mint by Pro. Not even close. It was trimmed and had some notching along the right border. I put back up on eBay noting the flaws and took a dead loss on the card.

Buy the card and Not the holder. It makes sense; after all you do get a major discount with PRO

Hard to figure out what this company is all about. It's as if they got it wrong almost every time. Did they actually know that each of those high grade cards they slabbed was trimmed?

I've had a couple (PRO Cards), both crossed-over to SGC and both took a two grade hit - good news is they graded (as opposed to trimmed/altered).

Some years back someone on this forum conducted a test by sending in a sampling of cards (10 cards I think) to PRO, most of which had been low-graded or rejected by the - shall we say - more mainstream TPGs. Maybe someone remembers who that was and the thread could be retrieved from the archives. Needless to say, the results bore out everything we've found to be true of PRO.
I guess if you really want a "mint card," PRO's the way to go. |

Bought a '68 Topps Game Pete Rose PRO 6 about 6-7 years ago. Just cracked it out and sent it to PSA... it came back a 6!

Many, many years ago. Bought two great looking T206s. The good news was that they were authentic, the bad news was that they were trimmed.

got some pics of the cobb upclose. Top right corner trimmed and card had several creases. A grade 2 without the trim but a big fat A
