For these super rare cards of these Jewish players, I'm curious do we know how many (graded or ungraded) cards of each of these exist ????? |

Outside of checking the PSA and SGC population reports, I'm not sure how else you would know. |

What happened to Stephen Behel in the Old Judge set? Was he posthumously converted to Catholicism? BTW, Levy is also in the Old Judge set and is still scarcer there. |

Alan- one of the collectors who posts on this board has an 1873 CdV of Lipman Pike, and it is almost certainly unique. Now that's a rare card. He is in full uniform as a member of Baltimore. |

Jay- there's always been a question whether Behel was in fact Jewish. And what about Chief Roseman (okay, I admit I don't have too many Jewish friends named Chief)? |

Barry--The thing I don't understand is how you can determine the religion of these players when for some you don't even know their first names. Fischer on the Maroons is one example--no first name known, sounds Jewish to me. |

I know- lots of players sound Jewish, such as T206's Meyers and Zimmerman. But they're not. I think many early players would have hidden that fact, so I don't believe we know with certainty who all of them were. |

Agree with Max. The 1910 and 1911 Obak Cooneys are available in the same numbers as the other cards in the set but you have to pay a premium for a nice one. |

Add the T207 Pelty for a very tough Jewish player and the P2 Sweet cap pin of Pelty is also no walk in the park. |

Fischer was circumcised therefore it is very possible he was Jewish. I went to his Bar Mitzvah too..... |

A few years ago I won a lot of a dozen or so ZeeNuts on eBay. I immediately paid for the auction. The next day I get an email from a fellow up north, New York I think. He was desperate to have the 1928 Sid Cohen ZeeNut that was in the lot. He said name a price. I told him I'd like to wait until I got them, before I sold one. He emailed back saying he and his son were close to completing ZeeNuts, this Cohen was one of the few he lacked, and he'd pay $100 for it. It had typical wear... |

I am not so sure that the cards named all are rarer per se than the others in the issues but some of those issues are very tough and the Jewish players are especially in demand so they tend not to leave collections very often once they are picked up. That may account for a perception of extra scarcity in regard to cards that are not known to have been short printed or otherwise limited in their distribution. |

The only card I have on Alan's list is Dreyfuss (SGC 30) and I expect him to be staring out from my curio cabinet for the duration. Mark |

I have shown this card a couple of times before. My collection isn't as large or as valuable as a LOT of people's on this board but this is the one card that I am proud of because it is from a fairly rare set and was uncatalogued until a few years ago. |

You should be able to find the R316 Berg on ebay a few times a year. I don't think it is particularly rare, though it is fairly popular. |
