Why is it that auction houses can charge an additional buyers fee on ebay auctions, but "normal" sellers can't charge extra to cover PayPal charges?

probably because paypal is an ebay company ebay is providing a service for you so they charge the fees, just like an auction house is providing a service for you and they charge a fee...a lot of people will bump up the s/h costs to cover some of the paypal fee without mentioning it is for the paypal fees...its a bunch of b.s.

Auction Houses run through ebaylive not through eBay... it's a legal thing, not an 'ebay owns paypal' thing
