Nice cards which for one reason or another won't grade is this thread. Grant has a tiny recoloring, Mott, as were so many 1909 Obaks, was hand cut from the original sheet, Chance has a irregular left edge cut and Young was returned as trimmed although it appears to measure correctly. |

that if you go into your photo software and use the "blur" tool, it cleans up the spots and makes the picture look like it should. Hope this helps. |

That isn't caused by a cheap scanner. That effect is caused by the dot pattern used to print the cards. All scanners will pick it up. In your scanning program look for a option called "descreen" or "descreening". If you get an option asking you to pick a "DPI" or a "LPI" use 85 for anewspaper photo, 110 or 133 for magazines or cards. You'll notice it'll take a little longer to do a scan but it should rid you of that problem. |

If you submitted these only once and to only one grading service than SHAME on you! Submit at least 3 times per service and try the 3 leaders. They will be slabbed. |

but if I get results like you got (I don't know why) I reduce the resolution to "72". (If you're getting it with "72," reduce it to "50." That's as low as mine goes. |

I used to scan cards at a high resolution, then shrink them to post here or on ebay - many times I would get that checkerboard effect. When I scan at a resolution that doesn't require shrinking the image to post, the checkerboard effect doesn't occur. I also found that the checkerboard thing was more likely to happen when I scanned e-cards with the solid color backgrounds - rarely happened with t206's. |
