Default Memory Lane Pickups

How did everyone do in Memory Lane's auction? I am very happy to have picked up these three as a retirement gift to myself. I really wanted the M110 Wagner, but these three are a nice substitute.

Amazing cards Paul! M110’s are my favorite looking cards. Just stunning!

Great cards Paul. This was my sole pick up- it’s tough and unique poise of Ruth very early on the Yankees. I was also on the Lections and Willard’s Ruth’s but ended a bridesmaid on both.

Short of dropping 6 figures, relatively few opportunities remain for me to upgrade my Mays collection, but knocked another one off the list last night by throwing caution to the wind and being more willing to overpay than the other bidders.

Great cards Paul, Ryan, and Nico

One of my smaller bucket list cards. But it is a rarer card but this is one of the cards with the better eye appeal

I was watching it every day thru exted bidding. Didnt think the UNC- Big Head Ruth
would reach its estimates. It got to 8k in extended time, i was like-- Hmm?

Congrats Ryan! That’s a tough one to find, and I likewise love the unique Ruth batting pose. Great pickup!

Default Pickup

Just when you thought prices could not get any more insane........
nothing for me.

In the unlikely case that the winner of the lot of 1931-32 4-on-1 Exhibits is breaking it up, can you please PM me? There is one card I am looking for in particular.

Thanks,
Brian

Beautiful stuff, guys.

Brian, you got that right. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop while the market for the cards I want goes up instead.

Thanks Chris, and everyone else. I'm looking forward to continuing to build my collection during retirement, though probably on a smaller scale than these M110s.

Great pickups, everyone. I've been waiting for this auction for a while, and here is the pickup that I was happiest about. I also won a few other strip or lower value cards that I thought were relatively reasonably priced. I kind of wish that they spread these Ruth cards out over multiple auctions since I just ran out of budget or I could have tried for a few others. Great auction, however.

Congrats Gary great card.
This is one I was watching also but with a budget had to prioritize. I am glad you got it and it will look great in your collection.

Congratulations

Nice pick ups all. Gary, congrats on a very cool card. Jeff, real nice pickups. I was your underbidder on the lections - you outbid me somewhere around 3:30am and I just didnt have the wake-up to keep going. I am glad you won it

Thank you, Jeff, Ryan and Joe, and I’ll say this again: I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an auction with items as impressive as this one in all my years of collecting. It was really a historic opportunity to buy rare Ruth cards that may never come again in one place. Kudos to ML and Joe T.

Thanks. It was pure luck. I was asleep at 2 am but I have a cat now who tries to murder me every night. He woke me up at around 3:20 and got me bidding again.

Congrats on those pickups. I agree, there might not be more of those out there for many years, if ever, especially in those conditions.
That method of waking up in the middle of the night can be brutal. Most of us have been there and done that. (cat not withstanding)
.

yes I had a really late/early morning final bid at 3:03 am to get my bid for the win.
But it was worth it.

Pop 6! And this one is a fairly recent cert to boot. So hopefully the odds of trimming and accidental over-grading shenanigans are lower.

+1. I love scarce pre-War cards with neat advertising backs, and IMHO, the LG back is the neatest!

I was watching a few cards but only ended up bidding on one and winning it, a nice mid-grade 56T Robinson with nice eye appeal:

Wow James, congrats! And now I know who outbid me on a few others I wanted! Congrats Pete, great, rare pick up

Pretty wild how many of the auction’s major Ruths went to people on this board.

Pete - Monster Ruth pickup! Did you know that is one of only two Ruth cards portraying a photographic image of him batting in a Red Sox uniform (the other being the elusive 1921 Frederick Foto Ruth). Major congrats my friend!
