Found First Mention (To Me) Of Joltin' Joe
.I was going through a really well-done scrapbook I had purchased (for the cards inside) and I found this , from Yankees Spring Training in March of 1936 . :
..  ..  ..He wore "18" in 1936 Spring training. Finding Erickson in a Yankees uniform is difficult , but here's his R-314 Type 5 from 1937 when he was back on the farm team , Toronto Maple Leafs ? .. ..If the language from the headline and the cringe-worthy sketches were used today , there would be gawdalmighty hell to pay. Twitter would crash. " Eithiopia" ??? " The Spaghetti Kid " ??? Oh Muh Gawddd. It was a different time , eh. But I love finding this stuff ...
