A long time baseball card icon (Lew Lipset) once told me: "Dan, no one knows everything about everything" and he is correct.
If you asked me to identify a year of a baseball card that was issued after 1978 I couldn't... I wouldn't even have an educated guess. So a dealer that deals in mainly shiny stuff (Topps and Bowman), acquires some old cards and doesn't know what they are so he submits them to an "Expert Grading Company" for identification and a grade. The results are comical: Ebay item: 142478253021 and 122654210526 These are not even close to W517 minis, W517 minis have their names in block print not script. Also, these 1929 Leader Novelty cards all have their top and bottom borders trimmed off so should be authentic at best. If you don't know what something is PSA... why not ask one of your vintage card customers? Dan Mckee |
