Some time ago we had a thread about the best player names/nicknames. Might be fun to go the other way: worst or most unfortunate names. This came to mind after looking through Jim's fabulous album of T210s and seeing Mr. Clunk.
So...my nomination for all-time most unfortunate name is . . . Clyde Kluttz (though he actually had a .980 FA as a catcher) Bill |

Certainly not pre-war, but J.J. Putz comes to mind.

JP, you stole my thunder...I don't know how it gets worse than Rusty Kuntz.
The Mets 3rd base coach last year had a really odd name - Razor Shines.

My favorite Olympic name - Gurd Bonk (a weightlifter). Eli Grba is another favorite. |

Peter LaCock (whose father was Peter Marshall, of Hollywood Squares fame).
One of my favorites has always been Bob Walk (not the best name for a pitcher). Steve Last edited by Steve D; 02-05-2010 at 12:49 PM. |

And Pete LaCock's aunt, ie Peter Marshall's sister, was the easy on the eyes actress Joanne Dru. She was in "Red River," among other films.

Dick Butkus. Think his name may have anything to do with how he punished people?
![]() And from an active player... Milton Bradley. Think he took some heat from his classmates with a name like that? That also might be the source of his nasty disposition. ![]() BTW... Nice thread. |
