Some magazines are already digitized. Sometimes members on here borrow online magazine subscriptions to download content they want. If you have a local university nearby, or some sort of archives you could buy a community member card and gain access to their services.
I bought a Tip Top Weekly from 1899, and it was already in rough shape. Many of these are on an online collection, so I never need to remove mine from its comic book holder.
