First,the list is not exact.The goverment prepared it after seizing the testing data.The result was that out of the 104 names recorded as positive,exceeds the actual number of positive tests which was 96.So 8 players shouldn't be on that list.The Mitchell Report explains that some of those 96 positives were contested by the MLBPA,who is protecting its own interests, so of course they'd contest,and maybe that doesn't mean anything.Except that MLB stated that some over-the-counter supplements that were available at the time would have resulted in a positive test.
As far as Ortiz goes and why he was on the list,MLB and the MLBPA said at the time, they are prohibited from discussing it, other than to inform Ortiz that he was on the list. They can't say why he's on the list - to us, to Ortiz, to anyone.
I guess he's guilty until proven innocent,right?
