Great post. It’s interesting that CGC doesn’t hold value even for the most iconic card (or #2) in the hobby. Like most vintage collectors I don’t like the brand but recognize them as “legit” for...

It might be the ultimate example of "buy the grade, not the card." A few months ago I was thinking it would be a good play to buy a bunch of ex-mt 89 UD Ken Griffeys and crumple them up to varying...

You've seen it all when it comes to PSA slabs, John. Weren't you the guy who had the '63 Mantle with the Immaculate Pube?

I have spent a great deal of time with the 75 Minis in the past few years, and I can share the following info:

1. The # of PSA graded minis is around 1/3rd that of the 75 Regulars. That doesn't...

That's an amazing collection of Franks. Can't imagine too many people (if any?) have the entire player run. Congrats.

It's really pointless to evaluate a card off a single on line photo. The Rose has nice eye appeal but probably has a small surface issue that caused the downgrade to a 5.5.

This illustrates how relatively easy it would be to turn a 69 yellow letter Mantle into a more valuable white letter variety. Just stencil out his letters and put the card under a light for a few...

Really nice card. Fisheyes would never cause a card to get downgraded more than a single grade, I'd imagine. 99% of the time this happens (thought it was a 7 but graded a 3) it has to do with...

Love the minis and that is one very nice '5'.

68 Gibby is such a great card. Looks like a guy who won't allow much more than one earned run per game.

Yes. I think the white letter variations look great and nicer than the yellow letters. Just be careful with the Mantle, as I think it's possible to create a white letter version by stenciling his...

Bench looks nice. Could be an 8, probably lower. Ryan could possibly get a 7, but hard to tell. Clemente is rough and should not have been crossed. It will grade 6 at best.
