Stolen Old Judge Baseball Cards, Please Beware
Many of you know me for the many 19th century card finds I have had over the years. Within the last few weeks I have had 13 Old Judge cards stolen, and have recovered five of them from Burbank Sports Cards who unknowingly bought them from the thief.
I will list images of the eight cards that are still out there in case the thief tries to sell them to you The theif is a woman named Melissa Please contact me if you are approached to buy any of these cards Thanks Dave Dave's Vintage Baseball Cards 310 471 1959 https://www.gfg.com/cardimg/403/79268.jpg https://www.gfg.com/cardimg/403/78164.jpg https://www.gfg.com/cardimg/403/78390.jpg https://www.gfg.com/cardimg/403/90551.jpg https://www.gfg.com/cardimg/403/79268.jpg https://www.gfg.com/cardimg/403/86281.jpg https://www.gfg.com/cardimg/403/86781.jpg https://www.gfg.com/cardimg/403/90550.jpg |

Good luck with the recovery effort. Kevin |
That stinks Dave, good luck in recovery and hope justice is served. Do you know how and when Melissa obtained the cards?
|
I’m truly sick about reading so many stories like this. Hope you are able to recover your cards!

All stolen cards are included on the altered card database and the stolen card database. If you just want to view or search stolen cards then this is the link you would use. https://www.tiffanycards.com/altered...atabase/stolen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Let's hope the leads from the Burbank store can help catch this thief. We'll keep an eye on the usual suspects (Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and fleabay). Hope you get them all back.
|
alls well that ends well
So, hats off to a great job by the LAPD, and thanks to them, I got all the cards back, the last eight came back today and were delivered to me.
The detective put a real scare into the suspect and we will just leave it at that, I am happy I got them back!! Dave |

Wow, I'm amazed that law enforcement could be bothered doing anything. You must have some pretty strong ties to the LAPD.

Not to mention, SoCal has even more things to worry about than usual these days. A few stolen baseball cards should rightly be at the bottom of a to-do list at the moment with everything that's been on their plate. It's great that this story had a happy ending--I'm just surprised that law enforcement was that proactive. |
Dave can you share how they were stolen?
|

I say this as someone who used to live in an "interesting" neighborhood and it was not uncommon at all to have an investigator show up at your house to ask about a lead or address of some name they have that might be in the neighborhood. |

I'm glad you got them back, OP. I'm curious how they were stolen and how they were found.
I also share a bit of surprise that law enforcement jumped in and solved this so quickly...in many parts of the country cops are under-resourced to where a small number of stolen baseball cards (from most people, anyway) is going to be a very low priority. |
I'm glad for the happy ending, Dave!

But most importantly, glad you got them back. Can't remember reading any of these theft threads whereby the owner got them back, frankly. |

I was surprised by that as well. We had a $125k truck stolen from work early last year and it took 4 phone calls and 3 hours to even get an officer to come out and write a report. When the officer did arrive he seemed genuinely annoyed that he was even there. There was also no investigation and no follow-up from the responding officer or the department. When we tried to follow up with the department on two different occasions we were just told to file an insurance claim. |
